Jeopardy! fans react after all three contestants miss an 'obvious' Cheers clue in Final Jeopardy, sparking debate and social media buzz over classic TV knowledge.

"Jeopardy!" fans have found themselves in a tizzy after all three contestants missed a seemingly "obvious" clue during Tuesday night's "Final Jeopardy!" round. The category was "Classic TV Shows," and the clue read: "Posted over the door of this show’s setting was a notice reading, ‘Maximum Room Capacity 75 Persons.'"

To the dismay of fans, none of the contestants could identify the answer as the 1980s bar-centric sitcom "Cheers." Instead, Lily St. Laurent from Bakersfield, California, humorously offered, "What is a TV show I don’t know." Meanwhile, David DeBacker from Ypsilanti, Michigan, and Alex DeFrank from Brooklyn, New York, both guessed "M*A*S*H." Host Ken Jennings quipped, "I’m very alarmed to learn that the 80s shows of my childhood are now classic TV – What is ‘Cheers.’" Ouch.

Despite the miss, DeFrank emerged victorious, wagering $6,001 and finishing with $19,199, earning him the title of three-day champion with total winnings of $75,600. However, fans weren't letting the contestants off the hook so easily. Social media lit up with reactions, with one Reddit user writing, "Flabbergasted that FJ was a triple stumper." Another viewer chimed in, "Never seen an episode in my life, and I got it instantly. Then thought it was too obvious."

Some passionate fans defended the contestants, pointing out that both "M*A*S*H" and "Cheers" were on the air in the early 1980s, making it a reasonable mix-up. One fan noted, "This was one of the few triple stumpers that my wife and I both got instantly. We've never really watched more than a handful of episodes, but a capacity sign like that meant it had to be in a public place, and Cheers famously takes place in a bar."

"Jeopardy!" has long been known for testing its players with tricky pop culture questions. Earlier this year, another contestant walked off the stage after missing a clue about Céline Dion, adding to the show's history of memorable stumbles. That clue referenced Dion’s hit "The Power of Love," but the contestant just couldn’t come up with the answer in time. Host Ken Jennings managed to keep the mood light, joking, "Oh, she’s going to be mad, Drew," as the player temporarily exited the stage to laughter from the audience.

Moments like these are part of what keeps "Jeopardy!" fans tuning in, even if it means yelling at their screens in frustration. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a little bit of game-show drama?

The fact that three people blanked on a clue about one of the most famous TV bars ever? It’s giving me major "Are you even trying?" vibes. Sure, "M*A*S*H" was a decent guess, but the 'bar' context should've tipped them off. Maybe the real question here is: are we officially too far removed from the '80s for some of these shows to be considered common knowledge anymore? Now that’s a sobering thought.
