Mike Wolfe announces the closure of his Nashville Antique Archaeology store after 15 years, shifting focus to family, Iowa roots, and ongoing online picking adventures.
After almost 15 years of hunting down treasures in the heart of Music City, Mike Wolfe has announced he’s closing the doors of his Antique Archaeology store in Nashville. The "American Pickers" star made the announcement with what can only be described as a bittersweet goodbye to the city and its community, saying, “This place has meant the world to me — not just the brick and mortar, but the people. The community.”
Since 2010, the shop—tucked inside the historic Marathon Motor Works building—has been more than just a spot to pick up a rusty sign or retro toy. It’s been a mecca for lovers of vintage finds, a place where stories from all over the world were exchanged along with the antiques. Wolfe made it clear that even good things sometimes need a pause, reflecting, “Sometimes, even when something is good, you have to pause and ask yourself where your time is going — and where your heart is calling you next.”
As for what’s next, Wolfe is trading the Nashville buzz for the comforting familiarity of his hometown in Iowa. He says it’s about slowing down a little, spending more time with family, and focusing on new projects—but fans shouldn’t worry, he isn’t disappearing. Wolfe reassured everyone he’ll still be “picking, sharing, and selling online and at our original LeClaire, Iowa store.” The Nashville shop will stay open until April 27, with Wolfe himself planning to be there on April 26 for a final farewell. Not every store closing gets a personal send-off from the owner, so if you’re in town, it might just be worth stopping by for the nostalgia alone.
Family is front and center in Wolfe’s decision, especially since his 81-year-old mom still lives in Iowa. “Everything I’ve ever known is there,” he shared, making it clear that sometimes, the best treasures are the people and places you grew up with. He wants to drive the same roads, be with his daughter, and soak up the familiar comforts of home.
This decision comes after the passing of his longtime friend and "American Pickers" co-star, Frank Fritz, who died in September 2024 following complications from a stroke. The loss has clearly left its mark—Wolfe recently shared how much he still thinks of Fritz, especially while filming the show. “He was my friend since 8th grade,” Wolfe said, adding that Fritz remains with them in spirit every day.
So, while the Nashville chapter is ending, Wolfe is taking the show—and his passion for picking—back to his roots. And for the rest of us, maybe it’s a reminder that sometimes the real hidden gems aren’t just antiques, but the memories and the people we collect along the way.

Mike Wolfe packing up shop after nearly 15 years in Nashville proves even the king of vintage can’t out-pick the call of home and family. Honestly, with all the treasures he’s dug up, the real jackpot was probably right there in Iowa the whole time. Nashville’s going to miss its quirkiest picker, but at least Mike’s not retiring to a rocking chair just yet—he’s just swapping honky-tonks for cornfields. If only every store closing had this much heart (and less clearance bin chaos).
