Ana Navarro says Kamala Harris erred by reaching out to Republicans instead of energizing her base. JB Pritzker praised for bold, base-rallying approach.
Ana Navarro, co-host of "The View" and a backer of Kamala Harris, didn’t hold back when reflecting on Harris’s campaign strategy for the 2024 election. Navarro said on Monday she believes Harris’s biggest error was spending too much time courting Republican voters, rather than firing up her own base.
Navarro put it bluntly: "We need more ‘JB Pritzkers.’ If there was one mistake, something I could tell Kamala Harris now, in 20/20 hindsight is, I wish you spent less time trying to bring Republicans into the fold and more time energizing the base. Energizing the Black vote, the Latino vote, that was not what it needed to be." It’s not every day you hear a political supporter admit their candidate’s strategy was a swing and a miss—especially when it’s this direct.
The segment also featured some praise for Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, who’s been making waves after calling for mass protests against Donald Trump during a speech in New Hampshire. Pritzker didn’t sugarcoat his feelings: "These Republicans cannot know a moment of peace. They have to understand that we will fight their cruelty with every megaphone and microphone that we have." Well, there’s no mistaking his message.
Navarro applauded Pritzker for his ability to energize Democrats, saying, "JB Pritzker is not only talking the talk, he’s walking the walk, and I love this guy because he’s not spending the time navel-gazing and infighting and doing the whole ‘woe-is-me’ thing." She even called him "approachable" and described him as a billionaire who’s relatable—now, that’s a combo you don’t see every day.
Pritzker’s speech included a warning that Democrats should punish Republicans "at the ballot box," saying, "We must castigate them on the soapbox and then punish them at the ballot box. They must feel in their bones … that we will relegate their portraits to the museum halls reserved for tyrants and traitors." Looks like the gloves are officially off.
The discussion also touched on Harris’s decision to campaign with Liz Cheney, an anti-Trump Republican, before the election. That move was criticized by former Biden press secretary Jen Psaki, who told Jon Stewart that ending the campaign with a bipartisan message probably wasn’t the best closing act. Psaki did praise Cheney for her work on the Jan. 6 committee, but insisted Democrats failed to truly connect with everyday Americans this time around.

Honestly, when a billionaire governor gets credited as 'relatable,' you know election season’s been wild. Maybe Harris should’ve invited JB Pritzker to her campaign playlist—he’s got more rally energy than a double espresso shot.
