AOC demands DOJ clarify if she’s under probe for immigration webinar, warns of authoritarian escalation.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is raising alarms over the Department of Justice’s silence on whether she’s under investigation for hosting a February webinar educating immigrants on their rights. The congresswoman told WTFNewsRoom she sent a formal letter to the DOJ, but they’ve dodged her inquiries. "I’m just exercising my First Amendment rights to inform people of their constitutional protections," she said, shrugging off the probe rumors with defiance.

The controversy stems from a clash with Trump’s "border czar" Tom Homan, who suggested referring Ocasio-Cortez to the DOJ for prosecution after her "Know Your Rights" event. Homan argued her advice to undocumented immigrants on avoiding deportation crossed legal lines. AOC, unfazed, dared him to "come for me" during a Queens town hall, emphasizing her role in public education during turbulent times.

Ocasio-Cortez warned that detaining a sitting lawmaker without cause would mark a dangerous shift toward authoritarianism. "This administration needs to think about the global fallout of bending laws and norms," she said, hinting at how allies might view such a move. Her letter to Attorney General Pamela Bondi demanded clarity on whether the DOJ is caving to political pressure to target dissenting officials.

The DOJ’s March 5 deadline to respond has passed, leaving AOC’s questions unanswered. As tensions simmer, the congresswoman stands firm, framing the standoff as a battle for free speech. "A government that threatens investigations to silence voices threatens everyone," she wrote.

AOC’s staring down the DOJ like it’s a high-stakes poker game, and Homan’s bluffing with a pair of twos. If they’re probing her for teaching rights, what’s next—arresting teachers for civics lessons? The real crime here is the DOJ ghosting her letter; talk about a bureaucratic mic drop!
