Ashton Jeanty is standing on the edge of NFL stardom, just hours away from hearing his name called at the draft—and he's got a plan to make his big moment unforgettable.

After a jaw-dropping 2024 season at Boise State, where he rushed for the second-most yards ever in college football (yep, nearly topping Barry Sanders!), Jeanty is set to be a rare first-round running back pick—maybe even sneaking into the top 10. Not bad for a position that's basically become an endangered species in the early draft rounds.

Jeanty will be in Green Bay, ready to soak up the once-in-a-lifetime experience. “The draft, watching it on TV, I always told myself, ‘One day, you’ll be a first-round pick. If you put the work in and get the opportunity, you got to go,’” he said. He’s got his eyes on that walk across the stage and the classic handshake with commissioner Roger Goodell—though he’s hoping to spice it up a bit.

“Got to do a little handshake. But I might get him to hit a few dance moves, a two-step or something,” Jeanty joked. He admits he’s not sure Goodell’s got the moves, but he’s determined to find out. The internet can only hope someone’s filming—because who doesn't want to see the commish try a two-step?

As for which team Jeanty will call home, he’s got the Bears, Raiders, and Cowboys as his top contenders. But this is the NFL Draft, where the only rule is: expect the unexpected. “I think there are teams that might possibly trade up, but you never know. It could be a team you didn't even talk to that makes a move,” he admitted.

Jeanty’s been vocal about what he brings to the table. In a recent piece for "The Players' Tribune," he urged all 32 teams to "draft the guy they can't tackle." Last season, with 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns, there weren't many defenders who could say they did.

He’s confident his skills will translate to the NFL, no matter what system he lands in. “The work I put in each and every day, I'm just confident in how I work and continue to get better. Obviously, it'll be a learning curve with a new offense, but skill is there. If you have skill, it doesn't matter what offense you're in, what scheme you're running. You can bring those skills to life. Breaking tackles, it doesn't matter what scheme you're in. You just have that ability."

Jeanty pointed out he’s thrived under different offensive coordinators and schemes every year at Boise State, but one thing stayed the same—he broke tackles and made plays. "I feel the same thing will happen at the next level."

All eyes will be on Jeanty this draft night—both for his football future and to see if Roger Goodell is about to trend for something other than a boo.

If Roger Goodell actually busts out a two-step on stage, I fully expect next year’s draft to require a choreography coordinator. Also, if the Raiders draft Jeanty and he starts breakdancing, is that technically the start of a new Vegas residency?
