It seems even Hollywood royalty isn’t immune to the polarizing effects of modern politics. Billy Baldwin revealed in a recent interview that he and his famous brothers are "battling" over political differences, a struggle that has even affected their family dynamics during holidays.

Speaking on the "Arroyo Grande" podcast, Billy admitted that keeping the peace in the Baldwin family used to be easier. But in today's charged political climate, tensions sometimes seem unavoidable. "This isn’t like ‘Let’s fight over Reagan and Iran-Contra.’ We live in a different world," he said, reminiscing about the more civil political debates of decades past.

Billy, who describes himself as a "Hollywood lefty," aligns with brother Alec Baldwin in supporting the Democratic Party, while their oldest brother Daniel and youngest brother Stephen are staunch Trump supporters. The ideological divide has grown so wide that Billy confessed, "Forget brothers and sisters. Members of opposite parties, members of the same party aren’t even talking to each other. We need a healing."

The brothers’ disputes even led to a notable fallout. "Alec and I don’t even talk," Daniel revealed two months ago on the "PBD Podcast." Billy admitted to having arguments with Daniel during the last election cycle as well.

Despite the discord, Billy emphasized his belief in finding common ground. His upcoming film, "No Address," which addresses the homelessness crisis, brought him into collaboration with Robert Marbut, a former Trump administration official. Billy praised the partnership, saying, "We’re finding consensus, and we’re totally respectful, treating each other with dignity. And not shockingly, we agree way more than we disagree."

However, these moments of unity don’t always extend to the Baldwin family table. Billy acknowledged that political differences have sometimes kept his family from gathering during the holidays. He jokingly contrasted his family’s ongoing battles with his wife Chynna Phillips’ famously turbulent upbringing, noting that her family has managed to reconcile and spend Thanksgiving together.

Reflecting on their childhoods, Billy highlighted the stark contrasts between their upbringings. While Billy’s father was a high school teacher and local community leader, Chynna's mother, Michelle Phillips of the Mamas and the Papas, had a whirlwind Hollywood lifestyle that included high-profile relationships with the likes of Warren Beatty, Jack Nicholson, and Mick Jagger. "Oddly enough," Billy quipped, "the Baldwins have kind of jumped the Phillips’ shark when it comes to family dysfunction and insanity."

Despite the challenges, Billy remains hopeful for reconciliation, saying, "We need a healing." And in today’s world, that might be the most relatable Baldwin family sentiment of all.

The Baldwin brothers’ political drama feels like a reality TV show we’re all secretly watching. Billy’s efforts to find common ground with a former Trump official are refreshingly hopeful, but let’s be real—if the Baldwins can’t sort it out, what hope do the rest of us have? Also, can we take a moment to appreciate how he casually turned his wife’s Hollywood chaos into a punchline? Classic Baldwin wit.
