NYU professor Scott Galloway slams Biden family’s narcissism, blaming it for Democrats’ 2024 election loss and a tarnished legacy.
In a scathing critique, NYU professor and liberal podcast host Scott Galloway has laid bare what he sees as the Biden family's damaging hubris, arguing it cost Democrats the 2024 election and left a lasting scar on the nation. On his Pivot podcast, Galloway didn’t mince words, claiming former President Joe Biden’s insistence on anointing Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor—without a proper primary—set the stage for electoral disaster.
Galloway argued that Biden’s decision to endorse Harris just thirty minutes after bowing out of the race was a calculated move that stifled competition. “The narcissism of Biden and his family has severely damaged this country,” he said, pointing to the lack of an open primary that could have showcased stronger candidates to face Donald Trump. He envisioned a dynamic “Shark Tank”-style contest to energize voters, rather than what he called a flawed handoff to Harris, who struggled to resonate with the electorate.
Other Democrats echo Galloway’s frustration. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suggested Biden’s late exit foreclosed the possibility of a robust primary, while former Harris surrogate Lindy Li called the quick endorsement a dismissive gesture to the party. Reports also reveal Biden privately urged Harris to align tightly with his agenda, limiting her ability to carve her own path—a move Galloway says sealed her fate and tarnished Biden’s legacy.
“Harris wasn’t a great candidate,” Galloway noted, acknowledging her effort but pointing out her failure to gain traction in the 2020 primaries as evidence of her weak appeal. He predicts history will judge Biden harshly, not for his empathy or accomplishments, but for this critical misstep. As the dust settles, the question remains: could an open race have changed the outcome, or was the die cast by Biden’s pride?

Biden’s legacy? Seems he passed the torch to Harris like it was a hot potato in a game nobody wanted to play! Galloway’s right—skipping the primary was like picking a quarterback who fumbled before the snap. Could a real contest have saved the Democrats, or was this just Biden’s ego calling the shots?
