Joe Biden seeks to regain influence in the Democratic Party amid internal debates over leadership, party direction, and unity following recent electoral setbacks and ongoing infighting.
Former President Joe Biden is reportedly making moves to reestablish his influence within the Democratic Party and help steer the group in opposing the Trump administration, according to a recent report. Biden has been reaching out to Democratic leaders and donors, but not everyone is buying into his vision of leadership.
"There are plenty of people in the Democratic Party who were obviously very frustrated with how things played out last year, but there are plenty of people who still love Joe Biden," said Alan Kessler, a Democratic Party fundraiser, in an interview with NBC News. Kessler pointed out that Biden might still be an asset in key areas like his hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania, but added that the party must evolve with new leadership. "It’s time to move on with new leadership," he stated bluntly.
Not everyone in the party agrees with Kessler's assessment. Donna Brazile, a prominent Democratic strategist, argued that the focus should not be on Donald Trump's attacks on Biden. "It makes no sense for Joe Biden to respond to Donald Trump," Brazile told NBC News. "The American people are not looking backward; they’re looking forward." A refreshing take, but one wonders if the party can truly move forward without addressing its internal disagreements first.
Jane Kleeb, vice chair of the Democratic National Committee, defended Biden’s ongoing role within the party. "If you were to call any state party chair and ask them if they wanted Joe Biden to be a keynote speaker for their annual dinner, the answer would be yes," Kleeb said. "He is beloved by the party and beloved by the voters." Clearly, Biden’s legacy still resonates strongly with some corners of the Democratic establishment.
Meanwhile, Democrats are still grappling with a leadership vacuum following Biden’s decision not to run for president again and Kamala Harris’ loss to Donald Trump. The party has yet to find a clear "face and voice" to represent them moving forward.
Adding to the drama, the party has faced internal conflict in recent weeks. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s support for a Republican spending bill drew significant backlash from the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. The divide highlights the ongoing tug-of-war within the party over its direction and priorities.
While Biden’s efforts to help the Democrats are admirable, it’s clear that not everyone is on board with his approach. The question remains: can the Democratic Party unify under a cohesive vision, or will infighting continue to dominate the headlines? As the party looks toward the future, one can only hope they find a way to reconcile their differences before the next election cycle.

Joe Biden stepping back into the Democratic spotlight is like seeing a retired quarterback trying to coach the team he used to lead—some cheer him on, while others are rolling their eyes. The real issue, though, is whether the party can find its next big star or if they'll be stuck in this endless tug-of-war between the old guard and new voices. Time to pick a lane, folks!
