A report alleges widespread use of autopen-generated signatures on Biden's official documents, raising questions about his involvement in key decisions and fueling concerns over his cognitive fitness.
Questions over who truly held the reins in the White House during President Joe Biden's administration have reignited after a report revealed that most of his official documents bore the same autopen-generated signature. The report, published by the Heritage Foundation's Oversight Project, alleges that the autopen was used extensively, raising eyebrows over whether Biden himself authorized many key decisions.
The Oversight Project didn’t mince words: "WHOEVER CONTROLLED THE AUTOPEN CONTROLLED THE PRESIDENCY," they declared on X. The group analyzed numerous documents from Biden’s presidency and claimed that all but one—his announcement of withdrawing from the 2024 presidential race—featured the same autopen signature. They even shared photographic evidence of the signatures to support their claim.
For those unfamiliar, autopen signatures are machine-generated replicas of handwritten signatures, often employed for efficiency. However, critics argue that their overuse could indicate a lack of direct involvement from the individual whose name is on the dotted line.
Fox News Digital conducted its own review of over 20 executive orders from Biden’s term and found all of them employed the same autopen signature. The Oversight Project specifically compared these to Biden's withdrawal announcement, which featured a noticeably different signature, raising further questions.
The timing of these revelations dovetails with ongoing concerns about Biden’s mental fitness. His cognitive abilities were under scrutiny throughout 2024, particularly after a lackluster debate performance against Donald Trump that left even some Democrats urging him to step aside for a younger candidate. Biden eventually dropped out of the race in July 2024.
The autopen issue has even drawn legal attention. Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey called for a Department of Justice investigation, questioning whether Biden’s cognitive decline allowed unelected staff to push policies forward without his explicit approval. Bailey’s letter highlighted claims that Biden’s staff tightly controlled his interactions and limited his access to outside information. This paints a concerning picture of a presidency potentially operating on autopilot—literally.
Adding fuel to the fire, Speaker Mike Johnson recounted an alarming 2024 meeting where Biden allegedly denied signing a key order halting liquid natural gas exports. Johnson described leaving the meeting in despair, questioning, "Who is running the country?"
The Oversight Project doubled down on the need for answers, emphasizing that investigators must determine "who controlled the autopen" and whether Biden was even aware of the orders issued under his name. They argue that Biden’s decision to revoke Executive Privilege for Trump-era advisors might pave the way for uncovering the truth using appropriate legal mechanisms.
As the debate over Biden’s autopen signatures and mental acuity rages on, it has sparked a wave of outrage among conservative commentators and social media users. Whether this marks a legitimate governance concern or simply political theater, one thing is clear: the autopen controversy isn’t fading anytime soon.

The irony here is rich. Imagine a presidency being reduced to the equivalent of hitting 'send' with a preloaded email signature. If the autopen was indeed running the show, it begs the question: does this make the machine the real MVP of the administration? Jokes aside, this issue raises some serious concerns about transparency and accountability in the highest office of the land. Also, how did no one think this would eventually come to light?
