Biden’s Education Department prioritized pronouns, leaving 200 antisemitism complaints unresolved. Trump’s OCR refocuses on statutory enforcement, tackling campus issues.

The Biden administration’s Education Department faced criticism for prioritizing pronoun usage and alleged book banning cases, sidelining nearly 200 unresolved antisemitism complaints, a senior official revealed. The Office for Civil Rights (OCR) left these cases, many sparked by heightened anti-Israel sentiment following Hamas’ October 7, 2023, attack, in limbo.

The official noted that over 150 of these complaints emerged post-attack, which killed 1,200 people and fueled tensions on U.S. college campuses. "The Biden team stretched civil rights laws beyond their limits, chasing pronoun disputes while ignoring serious antisemitism issues," said Julie Hartman, Education Department spokesperson. Under Trump, the OCR is refocusing on statutory enforcement, dismissing 11 frivolous book ban complaints and reversing Biden’s inclusion of gender identity in Title IX protections.

The Trump administration also halted DEI initiatives deemed racially discriminatory and issued an executive order to combat antisemitism, including a Justice Department task force to hold schools accountable. Meanwhile, a lingering complaint against transgender swimmer Lia Thomas went unresolved under Biden, despite controversy over her 2022 championship win. Trump’s executive order now bars schools from allowing biological males in women’s sports.

Critics argue Trump’s push to dismantle the Education Department weakens disability rights enforcement, but an OCR attorney counters that disability case resolutions remain on par with Biden’s era, with over 200 new cases opened and 100 closed since January.

Looks like Biden’s OCR was busy playing pronoun roulette while antisemitism complaints piled up like ungraded homework. Trump’s team is now sharpening the pencils, but will they erase the Education Department entirely? Here’s a joke: Why did the OCR ignore antisemitism cases? They were too busy debating whether ‘he’ or ‘she’ could win at hide-and-seek on campus!
