Brent Bozell steps down as MRC president after 38 years, passing the role to son David as he heads to a diplomatic post.

After nearly four decades of battling media bias, Brent Bozell III, founder of the Media Research Center (MRC), is stepping down as president. The conservative watchdog announced Monday that David Bozell, Brent’s son and MRC’s vice president for growth and development, will assume the presidency on May 27.

Brent Bozell, a fierce advocate for truth in journalism, expressed pride in MRC’s evolution from a fledgling mission to a cultural force. "What started as a fight against media slant became a movement empowering millions to demand accountability," he said. His next chapter? A diplomatic role as U.S. ambassador to South Africa, following a nomination by President Donald Trump.

Under Brent’s leadership, MRC exposed liberal leanings in major outlets, with studies like one revealing 92% negative coverage of Trump by ABC, NBC, and CBS as his second term’s 100th day nears. Karl Ottosen, MRC board chairman, hailed Brent’s legacy: "He gave voice to the ignored and built an unmatched institution."

David Bozell, no stranger to conservative advocacy, steps into the role with experience from ForAmerica and the Conservative Action Project. "My father made MRC the spearhead in defending America’s culture," he said. "I’m ready to carry that torch, adapting to an evolving mediascape with unrelenting commitment."

Brent Bozell’s handing the MRC reins to his son David feels like a conservative dynasty passing the torch—except this torch has been scorching media bias for 38 years! Wonder if David’s first move will be a study on why cable news anchors always seem to frown when saying ‘Trump’? And Brent as ambassador? South Africa’s about to get a masterclass in calling out spin, diplomatic style.
