Browns QB Shedeur Sanders faces criticism from GM Andrew Berry over speeding tickets, while struggling to secure a starting spot in the NFL.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders has found himself in hot water off the field this offseason after being cited twice for excessive speeding. First, Sanders was caught driving 91 mph in a 65-mph zone, and just two weeks later, he pushed the pedal to 101 mph in a 60-mph zone. To make matters worse, he failed to appear in court for both citations, adding fuel to an already turbulent start to his professional career.

Browns General Manager Andrew Berry didn’t mince words when addressing the incidents with reporters. "Not smart. Just not smart," Berry emphasized, highlighting the broader implications of such reckless behavior. He pointed out the danger not just to Sanders, but to others on the road, noting that a split-second mishap—like a deer crossing the path—could have catastrophic consequences at those speeds.

Sanders, for his part, has acknowledged his missteps. Speaking at a charity softball game hosted by teammate David Njoku last month, the rookie QB owned up to his poor choices. "I made some wrong choices personally, and I can own up to them," he admitted, signaling a willingness to learn from the experience.

On the field, Sanders is fighting an uphill battle for the starting quarterback position with the Browns, who drafted him in the fifth round after a surprising slide in the NFL Draft. Once considered a potential top-five pick, the Colorado alum now finds himself mostly practicing with the third-stringers, behind Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and even his former teammate Dillon Gabriel, who was selected ahead of him. His path to the top spot looks steep, but perhaps these off-field lessons will fuel a much-needed drive to prove himself.

Well, Shedeur Sanders seems to be speeding through his offseason—literally! Clocking 101 mph, he’s clearly aiming for a podium finish, just not on the football field. Maybe he’s auditioning for a Fast & Furious cameo instead of a starting QB role. Let’s hope he slows down before he drafts himself into more trouble!
