Brief

Christie Brinkley, 71, discusses her balanced approach to cosmetic treatments, prioritizing health after skin cancer, and embracing aging confidently as she prepares to release her memoir.

Christie Brinkley is no stranger to the spotlight, and at 71, she’s still lighting it up — this time by opening up about her approach to cosmetic procedures and aging.

In a recent interview, Brinkley shared that while she’s dabbled in a few enhancements, her goal isn’t to erase every wrinkle. "I mainly do lasers," she admitted, emphasizing that she’s not chasing a completely line-free look. For someone who’s spent decades in front of the camera, that’s honestly a refreshing take.

She also revealed she’s tried fillers and visits her doctor in New York City, but she’s careful not to look "done." Brinkley’s journey with beauty treatments took a more serious turn after she was diagnosed with skin cancer — a wake-up call that shifted her focus toward health over just aesthetics.

After her diagnosis, Brinkley decided to get Fraxel treatments — a skin resurfacing procedure — specifically to help eliminate pre-cancerous cells. "It’s mainly about health for me now," she explained. Last March, she let fans know she had basal cell carcinoma removed from her face and credited her doctors for stitching her up like a "haute couture Dior." Not everyone can say their medical care comes with a touch of runway glamour.

Despite the pressures of the modeling world, Brinkley never let age dictate her self-worth. Reflecting on her early career, she recalled being told, "you will be chewed up and spit out by 30," but she decided to "kiss the numbers goodbye." And honestly, she’s clearly still having the last laugh — recently channeling her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit days while rocking a red bikini on a boat.

Brinkley’s modeling career has spanned over 500 magazine covers and took her around the globe. She was discovered at 20 outside a Paris phone booth, and her most iconic moments came with three consecutive Sports Illustrated Swimsuit covers in the late '70s and early '80s. In 2017, she even returned to the SI cover, this time posing with her two daughters.

With her memoir set to release April 29, Brinkley shared a bright message online: "Feeling Optimistic and Hope [you] are too! Wishing everyone bright sun shiny days ahead!" It’s safe to say she’s still setting the tone for aging — and living — on her own terms.

Christie Brinkley treating skin cancer with Fraxel and then comparing her stitches to haute couture — that’s a supermodel move if I’ve ever seen one. Honestly, if the rest of us walk out of the dermatologist looking like we survived a paper cut, she gets the Dior experience. Only in Hollywood!
