Conservative groups urge Trump administration to expose alleged anti-Christian bias in Biden-era FBI, citing surveillance of Catholic communities.

A coalition of conservative organizations, spearheaded by Advancing American Freedom (AAF), is pressing the Trump administration’s newly appointed U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel to unearth documents revealing what they describe as a troubling pattern of religious discrimination within the FBI under the Biden administration. Their renewed push for transparency comes after years of alleged stonewalling by previous officials.

At the heart of the controversy is the so-called Richmond Memo, a leaked FBI document that branded traditionalist Catholic groups as potential sources of violent extremism. AAF and its allies claim this memo was not an isolated incident, as former FBI Director Christopher Wray suggested during congressional testimony in 2023, but rather part of a broader effort involving multiple FBI field offices, including Portland and Los Angeles, to monitor and infiltrate Catholic communities.

Through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, the coalition is demanding access to communications and records related to the surveillance of Catholic groups, as well as any orders to destroy pertinent documents. They argue that evidence uncovered by figures like Senator Chuck Grassley and House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan points to a deliberate attempt by the FBI to downplay or conceal the scope of its actions.

The timing of this renewed effort aligns with President Trump’s establishment of a task force aimed at eradicating anti-Christian bias, a move that has given the coalition hope for accountability. Marc Wheat, general counsel for AAF, emphasized the importance of exposing these documents to ensure the American public can hold federal agencies accountable for their treatment of religious communities.

As this unfolds, the coalition remains steadfast, joined by notable figures and groups such as former Senator Rick Santorum and Young America’s Foundation. Their message is clear: the pursuit of truth and the protection of First Amendment rights must take precedence over bureaucratic evasion.

Well, folks, it seems the FBI under Biden played a game of 'hide the memo' with Catholic groups, treating them like suspects in a Dan Brown novel. If the Richmond Memo was just a 'single product,' as Wray claimed, then I’ve got a bridge to sell you—blessed by a priest, of course. Let’s hope the Trump admin opens this Pandora’s box before the FBI decides to shred more than just paper.
