Democrats shift to embrace Elon Musk amid Trump feud over One Big Beautiful Bill Act, despite past 'dictator' labels and controversial actions.
In a surprising twist, Democrats are warming up to Elon Musk, the former head of the Department of Government Efficiency, as he publicly clashes with President Donald Trump over the controversial One Big Beautiful Bill Act. This shift comes after months of sharp criticism from party members who branded Musk a 'dictator' and 'fascist' for his aggressive cuts to federal spending and fraud during his tenure in the Trump administration.
California Rep. Ro Khanna took to X, saying, 'If Biden had a big supporter criticize him, Trump would have hugged him the next day.' Khanna urged Democrats to align with Musk’s values, like science funding and clean tech, to win him over. New York Rep. Ritchie Torres echoed this, noting, 'I’m a believer in redemption,' and praising Musk for calling out flaws in the sweeping legislation.
The bill, currently winding through Congress, has sparked a firestorm. Musk called it a 'disgusting abomination' on X, aligning with fiscal conservatives like Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson, who warn it could balloon the debt by trillions. Yet, some Democrats remain torn, haunted by Musk’s past actions, including a controversial gesture on inauguration day that critics labeled a 'Nazi-style salute.'
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez fired back in January, 'I’m not with the Nazis.' Others, like Rep. Ayanna Pressley, called Musk a 'Nazi nepo baby' meddling with Social Security. Despite this, Musk’s criticism of the bill has found unlikely allies among Democrats and the House Freedom Caucus alike.
Trump, visibly frustrated, addressed Musk’s attacks in an Oval Office meeting, lamenting a strained relationship and tying Musk’s ire to cuts in electric vehicle mandates—a jab at Musk’s role as Tesla CEO. The two traded barbs online, with Trump claiming Musk 'went CRAZY' after losing EV support, and Musk dismissing it as 'an obvious lie.'

Looks like the Democrats are trying to swipe Musk from Trump’s team—guess they figured if you can’t beat the 'disgusting abomination' bill, join the guy who’s torching it! Why did Musk cross the road? To confuse everyone on both sides and still drive a Tesla to the fight!
