Dodgers star Freddie Freeman will miss at least a week after re-injuring his right ankle in a shower accident. Team remains undefeated as he recovers.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will have to manage without their star first baseman, Freddie Freeman, for at least another week after a mishap in the shower led to a renewed injury to his right ankle.
Freeman, who famously played through pain last postseason, had his ankle surgically repaired shortly after the Dodgers clinched the World Series title. But this time, the injury stemmed from what can only be described as a 'freak accident'—a slip and fall in his own bathroom.
Speaking about the incident, Freeman couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity of it all. "Freak accident, you can't really make it up, crazy," he remarked. On Sunday morning, during what should have been a relaxing off day for the Dodgers, Freeman found himself sprawled in his bathtub after a slip mid-shower. "Halfway through my morning coffee, I thought I'd shower and get ready for the day. Next thing I know, I'm down in the bathtub," he explained, adding some humor to the mishap: "It's a great mental picture if you guys want to think about it. Big guy falling all over the place."
While Freeman's wife, Chelsea, and their son couldn’t resist poking fun at him, he took their ribbing in stride, sharing Chelsea’s witty comment: "I thought I was going to deal with this when you're 70, not when you're 35."
Despite the chaos of his tumble, Freeman remains grateful that the situation wasn’t worse. "It could have been much worse. I could have hit my head," he noted.
Freeman was a standout performer during last October’s World Series, where he earned MVP honors after driving in a record-tying 12 runs across just five games. His grand slam in Game 1 and consistent home runs in the series made him the Dodgers’ postseason hero. Yet, for now, the Dodgers seem to be holding their own without him, maintaining an impressive 8-0 start to the season.
While Freeman nurses his ankle, fans and teammates alike can only hope for a speedy recovery—and maybe a safer shower routine moving forward.

Okay, let’s just address the elephant—or rather, the star first baseman—in the room: Freddie Freeman slipping in the shower? It’s the kind of thing that makes you laugh and cringe at the same time. Sure, accidents happen, but this one feels straight out of a sitcom. Honestly, Chelsea’s line about dealing with this at 70, not 35, deserves its own MVP award. Here’s hoping Freeman sticks to bubble baths until he's back on the field!
