Donnie Wahlberg Knew Jenny McCarthy Was 'The One' When She Cheered On His Fan Kisses

Donnie Wahlberg has finally revealed the moment he knew Jenny McCarthy was the one for him — and, honestly, it's a plot twist worthy of a rom-com. Rather than getting jealous of his New Kids on the Block mega-fandom, Jenny was totally unfazed by Donnie's nightly tradition of kissing a fan during every show. In Wahlberg's own words, "I told her, 'Look, I'm in this band. My fans are going to be there... I got to stop and take pictures. I got to stop and say thank you. I got to stop and sign autographs.' And she said, ‘OK.’" Not only was she on board, she even offered to take some of those pictures herself. That's confidence you don't see every day.
For Donnie, that sealed the deal. "I knew right then. I was like, 'Oh, she's the one.' I knew already, but you know, I did have that talk with her." If only every relationship could survive a backstage full of screaming fans and lipstick on the cheek.
Jenny proved her cool again when she showed up to Donnie's concerts and watched him kiss a different fan every night during The Package Tour in 2013. No jealousy, no drama — just a supportive girlfriend enjoying the show. Meanwhile, back in the world of daytime TV, Jenny was starting her stint on The View in New York, conveniently where Donnie was filming Blue Bloods. Fate, or just great scheduling?
But karma, as always, has a sense of humor. On one of her early episodes of The View, Jenny volunteered to kiss a 40-year-old man who'd never been kissed before. Donnie caught the moment on TV and realized their relationship was about to get its own taste of the fan-kissing medicine. "She was very mature about it. I was not as mature," Donnie admitted. Jenny, never one to miss a beat, reminded him: "Do you know that I went to your concerts all summer long and watched you kiss someone all summer long? I never said a word. And now you're going to give me crap for kissing this dude on my TV show?" That was the mic drop that apparently ended Donnie's fan-kissing ways for good.
As for New Kids on the Block, the band still has some serious staying power. Founded in 1984, they're celebrated by fans every year on April 24 — officially recognized as "NKOTB Day" in Massachusetts. Wahlberg credits the band's loyal supporters for keeping the tradition alive, saying, "They refused to let it go away. They won't let it be a one-time thing, so rather than resist, they are constantly celebrating it." This year, the band is taking their party to Las Vegas, because where else would a '90s boy band and their fans want to celebrate?
Editor's Comments
If Donnie ever needs advice on handling fame and PDA, Jenny's got a PhD in 'chill.' Forget reality TV — their relationship drama could be a masterclass for couples everywhere. Honestly, if more relationships survived nightly on-stage smooches, world peace might be in reach. As for NKOTB Day, I’m just waiting for my invite to the Vegas party—because clearly, that's where loyalty (and a lot of hairspray) takes you.
