Drew Carey reflects on hosting 'The Price is Right' for 18 years and over 3,300 episodes, honoring Bob Barker's legacy as the show celebrates 10,000 episodes.

Drew Carey, now 18 years and over 3,300 episodes into hosting "The Price is Right," still feels like the "new guy." Reflecting on the show's impressive milestone of 10,000 episodes since its 1972 debut with Bob Barker, Carey shared his thoughts with Variety.

"They told me it was my 3,317th episode. Sometimes I feel like it’s not that long, and sometimes I feel like I’ve always been there," the 66-year-old comedian remarked, acknowledging Barker's significant 35-year tenure. "Bob Barker is two-thirds. I’m still the new guy!" he joked.

Barker, who retired in 2007, passed away two years ago at the age of 99. Carey admitted feeling the pressure of taking over such an iconic role.

He said his main concern was "to not be responsible for ruining the show or killing it," he shared. "I knew there was such a culture there, and I really wanted to honor that culture and not rock the boat. And I also wanted to make it my own, but without stepping on anybody’s toes."

It's great to see Drew Carey acknowledging Bob Barker's legacy while still bringing his own style to the show. It's a delicate balance, but he seems to be handling it well, keeping the spirit of 'The Price is Right' alive for a new generation.
