Former U.S. Rep. Mia Love, R-Utah, a trailblazing Republican and a daughter of Haitian immigrants, has passed away at the age of 49, her family announced on Sunday. Love's remarkable legacy includes being the first Black Republican woman elected to Congress, a milestone that solidified her place in American political history.

They expressed gratitude for the many prayers and condolences they’ve received and shared plans to announce funeral service details and a public celebration of her life soon.
