Georgia Receiver Nitro Tuggle Arrested for Reckless Driving After Hitting 107 MPH

Georgia Bulldogs receiver Nitro Tuggle found himself in hot water last week, hitting a staggering 107 mph before being arrested for reckless driving. Police detailed that the incident occurred just before 2 a.m. on March 19, landing Tuggle in the Athens-Clarke County Jail on misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and speeding.

According to the arrest report, Tuggle pulled over on the lane's right side instead of the shoulder, a maneuver that was far from textbook. The officer noted that Tuggle nearly exited the vehicle without even putting it in park. It's safe to say this wasn't his finest moment behind the wheel.

Georgia's athletics department swiftly suspended Tuggle, along with freshman offensive lineman Marques Easley, who had his own run-in with the law just days earlier. Easley reportedly lost control of his Dodge Challenger, crashing into a power distribution box and damaging several vehicles in the process.

Head coach Kirby Smart weighed in on the situation, acknowledging the poor judgment of his younger players. "It's very unfortunate," Smart said, noting that one of the players had only had his driver's license for about a month before the incident. "It's no excuse, but one of those things we will continue to educate and discipline our guys to try to correct it."

Unfortunately, these arrests are part of a troubling trend for the Bulldogs. Defensive back Daniel Harris, linebacker Smael Mondon Jr., and offensive tackle Bo Hughley faced similar charges last year. These incidents follow the heartbreaking January 2023 deaths of offensive lineman Devin Willock and recruiting staffer Chandler LeCroy, who were killed in a car crash involving racing after the team's national championship celebration.
