Gerry Turner warns new Golden Bachelor Mel Owens against age cutoff for contestants over 60, urging him to value personality over numbers.

In a surprising turn of events, Gerry Turner, the beloved alum of Golden Bachelor, has issued a heartfelt warning to the show’s new lead, Mel Owens, over his controversial decision to exclude contestants aged 60 and above. Turner, speaking with a blend of wisdom and warmth, believes Owens is on the verge of making a grave mistake by imposing such an age cutoff.

"I think it’s a real shame, and I’m betting he’ll reconsider once he meets these incredible women over 60. Their grace, charm, and unshakable confidence are something to behold," Turner shared. At 73, he speaks from experience, having connected deeply with the diverse and vibrant women on his season, each bringing something uniquely special to the table.

Owens, 66, recently stirred the pot by revealing his preference for contestants between 45 and 60, a stance he doubled down on by stating he’d cut anyone over 60. He even added expectations of physical fitness and quipped about avoiding "artificial hips and wigs." But Turner isn’t buying into this narrow perspective. He’s confident the show’s producers wouldn’t cast someone so superficial and suspects some of Owens’ remarks may lack context.

"Ignore the number and focus on the person," Turner advised, reflecting on his own journey where contestants ranged from 60 to 75. Despite his televised marriage to Theresa Nist ending after just three months, Turner remains grateful for the experience and urges Owens to approach each woman with respect and an open mind.

On a personal note, Turner, who faced a bone marrow cancer diagnosis last year, shared how it reshaped his outlook. "I don’t say ‘no’ to anything now—every day is a gift," he said, brimming with renewed energy. He’s also found love again with Lana Sutton, describing her as a dynamic partner who complements his zest for life.

As the Golden Bachelor saga continues, Turner’s words serve as a reminder: true connection transcends age. Will Owens heed this advice, or is he set to miss out on golden opportunities?

Mel Owens setting an age cutoff at 60 for the Golden Bachelor is like refusing to eat cake because it’s been baked too long—age only adds flavor! Behind the glitz, isn’t it ironic that a show about ‘golden’ years might ignore the shiniest gems? Let’s hope Mel realizes life’s best matches don’t come with an expiration date.
