Giants GM Joe Schoen’s Son Kicks Up Quarterback Draft Rumors with Social Media Move

The New York Giants’ draft plans were thrown into the rumor mill blender this week, thanks to a social media post from none other than Carson Schoen, son of general manager Joe Schoen.

With the 2025 NFL Draft looming, screenshots of Carson’s Instagram story lit up the internet. The buzz? He shared a highlight reel of Mississippi quarterback Jaxson Dart, instantly sparking theories that the Giants might be eyeing a QB with the coveted third overall pick.

This isn’t Carson’s first foray into draft drama. Last year, his push for the Giants to trade up for Jayden Daniels made the cut on “Hard Knocks”—though Daniels ultimately landed with the Washington Commanders. Looks like Carson’s got a knack for making headlines, intentional or not.

Once the speculation hit fever pitch, Carson’s Instagram went private. Classic move—drop the bombshell, then disappear. The digital equivalent of a mic drop.

While the rumor mill churns, the Giants have been busy in the offseason. They snagged Jameis Winston for two years and signed Russell Wilson to a one-year deal reportedly worth up to $21 million. That’s a lot of quarterback experience in one locker room—enough to make you wonder if they’re collecting QBs like rare sneakers.

Joe Schoen recently addressed the team’s QB situation, saying, "I think we put ourselves in a position where I don’t think it’s mandatory or something with our feet to the fire, that we have to do. I think the two guys we signed have played a lot of ball. They’ve got a lot of skins on the wall. I do think we’ve upgraded that room compared to where it was a year ago." Translation: don’t expect any desperate moves, but never say never in the NFL.

In addition to quarterback speculation, Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter has been linked to the Giants in some first-round projections. If the Giants do chase a new QB, Cam Ward is expected to go first, which would leave Jaxson Dart and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders as possible choices.

But with Carson Schoen’s social media stoking the fires, fans can only wait and wonder what’s actually brewing behind closed doors at Giants HQ. Hey, maybe the real draft battle is just as fierce in the Schoen family living room as it is at the team’s war room.

Editor's Comments

Gotta hand it to Carson Schoen—he’s got a better sense for stirring up draft drama than most sports pundits. If GM jobs were handed out for social media strategy, the Giants might be set for the next decade. Somewhere, Jaxson Dart is probably double-checking his follower count.
