Rep. Mike Collins pranks Sen. Chris Van Hollen by changing his office plaque to 'El Salvador' amid fierce debate over Van Hollen's trip and MS-13 deportation controversy.
Washington, D.C. just got a dose of schoolyard antics. Rep. Mike Collins, a Republican from Georgia, upped the trolling game this week by swapping out the name plaque outside the office of Democratic Senator Chris Van Hollen of Maryland. The new plaque didn’t just feature Van Hollen’s name—it boldly claimed he represented El Salvador instead of Maryland. Collins gleefully posted the stunt on X with a message to Van Hollen: "Hey, I went ahead and changed your office plaque for you." Honestly, Capitol Hill hasn’t felt this much like high school in ages.
The prank comes after Collins repeatedly slammed Van Hollen for his recent trip to El Salvador. The senator traveled there to meet with Kilmar Abrego-Garcia, a Salvadoran national accused of being in the MS-13 gang and in the U.S. illegally. Collins, never one to hold back, even called Van Hollen "traitorous" on social media, and told him, "If you’re going to advocate harder for illegal gang members than you do American citizens, don’t come back." Subtlety clearly wasn’t on the menu.
Abrego-Garcia’s deportation has been a lightning rod among Democrats, who insist he was a hard-working Marylander denied due process. But according to Homeland Security Investigations, the man was ordered deported in 2019, had been linked to MS-13 by Prince George’s County police, and was suspected of human trafficking after a 2022 traffic stop in Tennessee. During that stop, police found eight passengers in his car, all destined for the same address in Maryland and reportedly traveling for construction work. The lack of luggage and matching stories set off more than a few alarm bells for the trooper involved.
The debate over Abrego-Garcia has only intensified after President Donald Trump hosted Angel Mom Patty Morin at the White House this week. Morin’s daughter, Rachel, was murdered in Maryland in 2023 by an illegal migrant from El Salvador. Morin claims she never heard from Van Hollen after the tragedy, adding another emotional layer to the controversy.
Fox News Digital reached out to Rep. Collins' office for comment on the incident. If nothing else, this episode proves that even in the halls of Congress, a sense of mischief—and a whole lot of finger-pointing—rarely go out of style.

When politicians start swapping office plaques like kids swapping lunchables, it’s a sign the D.C. drama is officially off the rails. Maybe next week they'll be doodling mustaches on each other’s portraits.
