House GOP slams Gov. Tim Walz ahead of a blockbuster congressional hearing on sanctuary city policies, sparking fierce debate over immigration enforcement.

House Republican leadership has come out swinging against Democratic Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota, just days before a highly anticipated congressional hearing on sanctuary city policies. Set for Thursday, the hearing will see Walz, alongside Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and New York Governor Kathy Hochul, face intense scrutiny from the House Oversight Committee over their immigration stances.

GOP Whip and Minnesota Representative Tom Emmer didn’t hold back, delivering a scathing critique of Walz’s record. "From outrageous insults against ICE agents to rolling out taxpayer-funded benefits for illegal immigrants, Walz’s agenda is clear: pro-illegal alien, anti-Minnesotan," Emmer declared. With a smirk, he added a sarcastic "good luck" to Walz as the governor prepares to defend his policies in Washington.

The timing couldn’t be more charged. Over the weekend, anti-ICE riots erupted in Los Angeles, while the Trump administration continues to intensify deportation efforts nationwide. The hearing will likely zero in on so-called 'sanctuary cities'—regions, often Democrat-led, that limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement, including denying ICE detainer requests.

House Oversight Chairman James Comer of Kentucky framed the issue starkly: "Sanctuary policies only provide sanctuaries for criminal illegal aliens." He accused states like Minnesota, Illinois, and New York of obstructing federal efforts to deport criminal undocumented immigrants, prioritizing their protection over the safety of American citizens.

As the debate over immigration policy heats up, this hearing promises to be a battleground for deeper questions about state versus federal authority—and the human cost on both sides of the divide. Expect fireworks when the gavel drops on Thursday at 10 a.m. ET.

Well, folks, if Tim Walz thought running for VP was a tough gig, wait till he faces this congressional grilling. It’s like sending a lamb to a lion’s den—except this lamb’s got a record on immigration that’s more porous than a sieve at a spaghetti dinner. Here’s hoping Walz packed a parachute for this freefall, because when Comer and Emmer are done, he might need to skydive back to Minnesota. Speaking of, I bet Walz’s new campaign slogan after this hearing will be: ‘Sanctuary for me, but not for thee!’
