Brief
Marjorie Taylor Greene's bill seeks to punish gender transition procedures on minors, sparking debate on child protection and medical ethics.
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has launched a bold legislative move with the Protect Children's Innocence Act of 2025, a bill aimed at penalizing those who perform gender transition procedures on minors. The Georgia congresswoman, known for her fiery rhetoric, claims the measure shields kids from what she calls "dangerous drugs and disfiguring surgeries."
The proposed law targets medical professionals and others who administer puberty blockers, high doses of hormones like testosterone or estrogen, or perform surgeries deemed as "genital or bodily mutilation" on minors. Penalties could include fines, up to a decade in prison, or both, particularly when these acts involve interstate commerce or occur within U.S. jurisdictions.
Greene’s bill carves out exceptions for procedures necessary for a minor’s physical health, explicitly excluding mental health conditions as a justification. This aligns with a broader push, including a recent executive order by President Donald Trump, to curb what some conservatives label as radical gender ideology targeting children.
With dozens of House Republicans backing the bill, it’s set for review in the House Judiciary Committee. The debate promises to be heated, as it taps into a deeply divisive cultural issue, balancing parental rights, medical ethics, and individual freedoms.

Marjorie Taylor Greene’s swinging for the fences with this one, but it’s like trying to umpire a cultural cage match. She’s pitching this as saving kids, but the other side’s ready to call foul on freedom. Here’s a joke: Why did the bill go to Congress? It wanted to transition into law, but it’s stuck in committee puberty!
