Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene calls for revoking FDA approval of COVID-19 vaccines, citing safety concerns, sparking renewed debate as health officials continue to recommend vaccination.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., is once again stirring up controversy, this time with her call to revoke FDA approval for COVID-19 vaccines. She claims the vaccines are "causing permanent harm and deaths," and insists they should be removed from the childhood immunization schedule immediately.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Greene reiterated her long-standing opposition to the vaccines, saying, "FDA approval for COVID-19 vaccines needs to be pulled and they need taken off the childhood vaccine schedule ASAP. I’ve been saying this ever since they were created." She also referenced her prior ban from Twitter for her outspoken views—until Elon Musk took over and restored her account.
Currently, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends COVID-19 vaccination for children as young as 6 months old. However, Greene strongly believes the vaccines should have never been approved and alleges that authorities were aware of severe side effects and fatalities from the start.
"It’s time to do the right thing. Stop the COVID-19 vaccines," Greene declared. Her sentiments echo those of Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., who tweeted last month that the FDA should "immediately revoke approval of these shots."
While Greene's claims are bold, the CDC maintains that COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective for preventing the virus. They acknowledge rare cases of myocarditis and pericarditis following mRNA vaccines like Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech, particularly in adolescent and young adult males after the second dose. However, the CDC emphasizes that these instances are rare and that vaccination remains crucial for public health.
The debate over vaccine safety has been a hot-button issue, especially among certain political figures. Greene's fiery rhetoric adds another layer to this ongoing controversy, though it’s worth noting that mainstream health organizations continue to advocate for vaccination.
As the discussion heats up, it’s clear that the divide over COVID-19 vaccines is far from over. Whether Greene's calls will gain traction among policymakers remains to be seen, but they’re certainly fueling the conversation.

While Greene’s statements are certainly provocative, they underscore how deeply polarized the vaccine debate has become. Her claim that the vaccines should never have been approved is a dramatic one, especially given the overwhelming consensus among health experts about their efficacy. Still, her ability to reignite this conversation is a testament to how influential—and divisive—she remains in the political arena.
