Ric Grenell criticizes Susan Rice and Democrats over U.S. foreign policy, blaming them for conflicts in Ukraine, Gaza, and Libya. Rice denies wrongdoing, as Trump-Zelenskyy tensions escalate.

Ric Grenell, the Trump administration's special presidential envoy for special missions, launched a scathing criticism of Susan Rice and the Democratic Party's foreign policy record, which he claims has led the U.S. into multiple conflicts under President Biden's leadership. Grenell's fiery comments were posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, targeting Rice, who served as a national security advisor and U.N. ambassador during the Obama administration.

"Your guy couldn’t even talk to Putin. For 3.5 years! Your policies helped usher in a war in Ukraine, Gaza…and Rwanda if you remember," Grenell wrote, accusing Rice of mishandling international crises. He also revisited the infamous Benghazi attack in Libya, saying, "And then you lied about Libya - it wasn’t caused by a video. You made that up." He added, "Donald Trump handed you peace in the Middle East and Europe - you handed us two wars. We see you."

Grenell's remarks were in response to a post by Rice, who had dismissed conservative criticism of President Trump's meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as "the same old tired crap." Rice denied accusations that she or other Democrats had advised Zelenskyy to act confrontationally toward Trump during their recent meeting, calling the claims baseless.

"I have never met Zelenskyy and never spoken to him. Ever," Rice insisted in her post. "It’s a shame that you contend that it is in the U.S. national interest to sell out Ukraine and suck up to Putin." Her comments followed speculation from The Federalist's Mollie Hemingway, who suggested that Rice and other Democrats had orchestrated the tense exchange between Trump and Zelenskyy.

The clash between Trump and Zelenskyy in the Oval Office reportedly included sharp remarks from both sides. Trump accused Zelenskyy of "gambling with World War III," while Vice President JD Vance bluntly asked the Ukrainian leader if he had "said thank you once this entire meeting," referencing the substantial U.S. aid given to Ukraine. Congress has appropriated $175 billion in aid to Ukraine since 2022, with the U.S. contributing nearly $120 billion during the same period, according to reports.

Rice, in a recent MSNBC interview, called the Trump-Zelenskyy meeting a "setup," alleging that it was orchestrated to create political drama. "It’s a very sad day and an embarrassment for the United States on the world stage," she said, accusing Vance of deliberately hijacking the conversation with Zelenskyy.

Meanwhile, Zelenskyy, who also met with bipartisan Senate lawmakers during his visit to Washington, reaffirmed Ukraine's stance against a "fake peace agreement" that would favor Russia. "Your people are very brave," Trump told Zelenskyy during their meeting, but added, "You're either going to make a deal or we're out. And if we're out, you'll fight it out."

As the U.S. debates its role in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, European leaders have taken steps to lead peace initiatives. Over the weekend, Zelenskyy met with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in London, with discussions focused on drafting a peace plan that could be presented to the U.S. European leaders are set to continue their peace talks in London.

Grenell's clapback at Susan Rice is like a masterclass in political roasting. He didn't just throw shade—he brought the whole eclipse. But jokes aside, it’s striking how these debates over foreign policy keep circling back to old grievances like Benghazi. At the end of the day, though, the real losers in these political skirmishes are the people caught in the crossfire of these wars—literal and rhetorical.
