Jey Uso challenges Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 41, energizing WWE fans in Las Vegas as anticipation builds for their high-stakes showdown.
WrestleMania 41 hasn’t even started, but the crowd is already picking sides – and it’s clear who’s the people’s champ (at least for now). Jey Uso has the WWE Universe in his corner as he gears up to challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship this Saturday at Allegiant Stadium.
The energy in Las Vegas was off the charts Thursday night at WaleMania, where fans let loose with deafening “yeet” chants, making their support for Uso impossible to ignore. If you ever wondered what unwavering loyalty sounded like, it’s probably a lot like that crowd.
But Gunther? He’s not losing sleep. In fact, he seems to thrive on being the villain. Speaking with Fox News Digital, Gunther said he relishes ruining the party for everyone else. "I enjoy it. I love to p--- on any parade," he admitted. "I’m the party pooper in this company, and I’m very proud of that. I enjoy doing that. The more support Jey has, the better for me."
Gunther’s reputation for dominance is well earned. Since snatching the World Heavyweight Championship from Damian Priest at SummerSlam last August, he’s barely stumbled, with only rare singles losses—Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel and Sami Zayn at last year’s WrestleMania 40, where Zayn ended Gunther’s historic Intercontinental title run.
Jey Uso, meanwhile, earned his shot at Gunther by winning the men’s Royal Rumble. While he’s only previously held the Intercontinental Championship (which he lost to Bron Breakker), the momentum and the noise are definitely behind him.
Saturday’s showdown promises fireworks: the relentless champion versus the crowd favorite with something to prove. Whether Gunther can keep his “party pooper” streak going or if Uso will ride the wave to a career-defining win is the kind of drama WWE fans live for.

I have to give it to Gunther – not everyone can boast about being the office party pooper and get cheered for it. If confidence was a championship belt, he’d already have a lifetime reign. With crowds chanting and the stakes sky-high, Saturday night could be one of those moments where the underdog steals the show, or the villain cements his legend. Either way, the popcorn is ready!
