Gwen Stefani is opening up about the not-so-secret ingredient that keeps her marriage with Blake Shelton running smoother than a country love song. During her recent chat on "The Drew Barrymore Show," Stefani, 55, shared the best relationship advice she’s ever gotten: always bring a third party into your marriage. Before you get any wild ideas, she pointed straight up—she meant God is the real VIP in their relationship.
Known for her chart-topping hits with No Doubt and solo bangers like "Hollaback Girl," Stefani revealed her ultimate love song isn’t actually one of her own. She picked Shania Twain’s "Still the One" as the gold standard, which honestly fits—few things stick around like a catchy Shania chorus.
When it comes to date night, Stefani is all about the homebody life. She described her ideal evening as couch-bound, wrapped in blankets, loaded up with cookies and chips. For her and Blake, it’s less Hollywood glitz and more “hey neighbor” energy as they wave from opposite couches—turns out, being cozy sometimes means tackling the logistical nightmare of two adults and a pack of dogs on one piece of furniture. As Stefani joked, she’d love to snuggle, but there’s just not enough room for Shelton’s "gigantic" frame.
Their love story started back in 2014 on "The Voice," while both were navigating divorces from their previous spouses. After a duet or two and some serious country charm from Shelton, the pair made it official in 2015, tying the knot in an intimate Oklahoma ceremony in 2021. Since then, they’ve turned their musical chemistry into real-life hits with duets like "Nobody But You," "You Make It Feel Like Christmas," and "Happy Anywhere."
Stefani’s family life is just as full—she shares three sons, Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo, with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale. And while Shelton doesn’t have biological kids, he’s embraced the role of stepdad wholeheartedly, even stepping away from his long-running gig on "The Voice" to put family front and center.
"Even though I'm a stepparent, I take that job very seriously," Shelton has said. "The kids see me as a very important person in their life." For him, priorities have shifted: "This isn't about me anymore and never will be again." If that’s not swoon-worthy, I don’t know what is.

Gwen and Blake’s secret to marital bliss? Divine intervention—and maybe a giant sectional sofa. Honestly, if the biggest hurdle in your relationship is fitting everyone (dogs included) on the couch, you’re probably doing better than most. Maybe furniture designers should start taking notes from this power couple—call it the 'Stefani-Shelton Snuggle Sectional.'
