The incident unfolded on May 31, as the couple, visiting from Wales, strolled near the river with their dog. A deafening explosion rocked the air, described by Hobbs as a sound so powerful it felt like a punch to the head. Initially mistaking it for something trivial, they soon realized the gravity when desperate screams echoed from the burning boat.

Instinct kicked in. Hearing cries from those who couldn’t swim, the couple sprinted to the scene, urging the victims to jump into the water as the safer choice. Hannah plunged in first, securing the tiniest survivor—a toddler barely over a year old—while Josh, still holding his dog’s leash, shouted for others to escape the inferno.
