Rep. Jasmine Crockett faces conservative backlash after calling Donald Trump an 'enemy to the United States' and 'dictator' during an MSNBC appearance, sparking heated political debate.
Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett is facing a wave of backlash from conservatives on social media following her controversial remarks labeling former President Donald Trump as an "enemy to the United States." During an MSNBC appearance on Sunday, Crockett claimed that Trump is "occupying the White House" and referred to him as a "dictator."
"Unfortunately, we have someone that is occupying the White House, and as far as I’m concerned, he is an enemy to the United States," Crockett stated. "I don’t know what it’s going to take to get people to wake up."
Her comments ignited immediate responses from conservative figures on social media, many of whom criticized the Texas congresswoman for her rhetoric. Fox News host Laura Ingraham quipped, "Almost sounds like this ‘defender of democracy’ would support an insurrection." Former Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., added, "Dangerous election denier stuff here."
Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., joined the chorus, posting, "By all means, continue this leaderless, tired charade and keep losing elections." Meanwhile, conservative influencer account Gunther Eagleman didn’t hold back, writing, "Jasmine Crockett labeled Trump as an enemy of America while simultaneously saying she doesn’t understand anything that’s going on. She’s really this dumb."
Crockett, a vocal opponent of Trump’s policies, has gained attention for her sharp criticisms of the former president and her no-holds-barred approach to political discourse. Most recently, she made headlines after telling a reporter outside the U.S. Capitol that her one message to Tesla CEO Elon Musk would be, "F--- off." Subtlety clearly isn’t her strong suit.
Fox News Digital reached out to Crockett’s office for comment, but no response was received at the time of publication. Whether her remarks were a calculated attempt to galvanize her base or a slip of the tongue, they’ve certainly sparked debate across the political aisle.

It’s one thing to critique a political opponent, but calling a former president the 'enemy of the United States' is bound to provoke strong reactions. Crockett seems to be doubling down on the shock factor lately, but one has to wonder—does this strategy energize her supporters, or does it just alienate moderates? Either way, her remarks are a reminder that political discourse in 2025 is anything but tame.
