House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries clashed with Rep. Andy Ogles over a resolution to strip Democrats of committee assignments after a chaotic censure vote in the House.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., did not mince words in his response to Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., after Ogles proposed stripping Democrats of their committee assignments. Jeffries called Ogles a "fraud" and dismissed the resolution as "going nowhere." The fiery exchange followed chaos in the House chamber over a contentious censure vote.
On Thursday, the House attempted to censure Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, for outbursts during President Donald Trump's joint address to Congress earlier in the week. The vote itself became a spectacle, with ten Democrats siding with Republicans to reprimand Green, while most Democrats rallied around him, singing "We Shall Overcome." The chamber descended into disorder, forcing Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., to call for a recess.
Amid the fallout, Ogles introduced a resolution suggesting that Democrats involved in the protests—particularly those who ignored Speaker Johnson’s orders—should lose their committee roles. Jeffries, however, was quick to shut down the idea, calling it a political stunt. "That resolution is going nowhere," Jeffries said in a video posted on X (formerly Twitter). "Andy Ogles is a fraud. A complete and total fraud. You ain't throwing no one off of any single committee." Talk about pulling no punches!
Jeffries also took the opportunity to lambast Ogles further, calling him and his allies "malignant clowns" and threatening to expose Ogles to the public. If there's one thing Jeffries knows how to do, it's delivering a verbal smackdown with flair.
Ogles, undeterred, told Fox News Digital that Democrats who "disobeyed the Speaker's orders" should indeed face consequences. He accused them of behaving like children and said, "We're gonna respect one another, and I'm tired of this crap." While Ogles might be aiming for tough love, his comments are unlikely to win him many friends across the aisle.
With tensions running high, the chaotic events of the censure vote and its aftermath highlight the deep partisan divides that continue to dominate the House. Whether these fiery clashes will lead to substantive changes—or just more shouting matches—is anyone's guess.

Jeffries calling Ogles a 'fraud' and 'malignant clown' almost feels like the political equivalent of a WWE takedown. While the theatrics are entertaining, it does make you wonder—are these lawmakers actually solving problems or just sharpening their one-liners? The House floor is starting to sound more like a reality TV set than a legislative chamber.
