Indivisible Targets NY-17 Race with Beth Davidson Amid Tesla Protest Backlash

In a striking turn of events, the progressive group Indivisible, known for fueling protests against Tesla and other far-left causes, is now setting its sights on a pivotal congressional race in New York's 17th District. This swing district, currently represented by Republican Rep. Mike Lawler, is becoming a battleground as Indivisible appears to back Democrat Beth Davidson, a Rockland County legislator with deep ties to the group.

Davidson has been vocal in her support for Indivisible, attending their events and featuring in promotional content. Local chapters of the group have also organized protests at Lawler’s town halls, with plans to fill entire streets to make their presence undeniable. At one such event, Davidson proudly noted standing with over a thousand protesters, accusing Lawler of ignoring critical issues like healthcare and education.

Indivisible’s influence doesn’t stop at protests. With a history of receiving substantial funding from the George Soros network, the group has pushed controversial agendas, from defunding the police to targeting Elon Musk’s role in government efficiency with aggressive demonstrations at Tesla locations—some of which have escalated into violence labeled as domestic terrorism by the Department of Justice.

The National Republican Congressional Committee has accused Indivisible of infiltrating congressional races to undermine President Trump’s agenda, with Davidson as their chosen candidate in NY-17. Lawler’s campaign has gone further, calling her association with the group disgraceful due to alleged antisemitic imagery at rallies and conspiracy theories promoted by Indivisible. While Davidson has condemned such imagery, Lawler insists her response falls short.

As the 2026 midterms approach, this race is shaping up to be a microcosm of larger national tensions. With Republicans clinging to a fragile majority in Congress, and NY-17 rated as a Lean Republican seat by political analysts, the outcome here could signal whether progressive activism can translate into electoral power—or if it will backfire amidst accusations of extremism.
