President Trump’s eighth week featured a Tesla showcase, sharp criticism of Biden’s DOJ, NATO talks, Greenland ambitions, and controversy over USAID document destruction.

President Donald Trump’s eighth week in office was anything but dull, packed with fiery speeches, ambitious international discussions, and a flashy new ride. Kicking things off with a red Tesla showcase on the White House South Lawn and finishing with blunt accusations against the Department of Justice, the week showcased Trump’s signature flair for drama and controversy.

On Friday, Trump took aim at his predecessor Joe Biden's Department of Justice, labeling it the "department of injustice." Standing at the DOJ podium, Trump proclaimed, "Our predecessors turned this Department of Justice into the department of injustice. But I stand before you today to declare that those days are over, and they are never going to come back." Bold words, even for Trump.

For years, Trump has been at loggerheads with the Justice Department and FBI, particularly after investigations into his 2016 campaign’s alleged collusion with Russia. The probe ultimately found no evidence of coordination, but the animosity clearly hasn’t faded. Under Biden’s administration, Trump faced further legal scrutiny, including investigations into his efforts to overturn the 2020 election and retain classified materials at Mar-a-Lago.

Trump didn’t hold back in his criticism, saying, "They tried to turn America into a corrupt communist and Third World country, but, in the end, the thugs failed, and the truth won." A Biden spokesperson did not respond to requests for comment.

The week wasn’t all domestic drama. Trump met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on Thursday to discuss defense spending and the eyebrow-raising idea of the U.S. acquiring Greenland. Trump has long pushed NATO allies to increase their defense budgets, advocating for contributions between 2% and 5% of GDP. Rutte echoed the sentiment, saying NATO nations were committing to higher spending under Trump’s leadership—though he stopped short of endorsing the Greenland purchase.

"I think it'll happen," Trump remarked confidently about acquiring Greenland, despite Denmark’s repeated rejection of the idea. Rutte diplomatically sidestepped the topic, emphasizing the need for Arctic security amid increased Russian and Chinese activity.

The week also saw controversy surrounding USAID. Reports surfaced of employees being instructed to shred and burn classified documents as part of an agency closure effort, sparking concerns. However, White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly dismissed the uproar as "fake news hysteria," explaining the materials were outdated and still available in classified computer systems. Thousands of USAID employees had already been dismissed or placed on administrative leave following recommendations to cut wasteful spending.

And then there was the Tesla moment. On Tuesday, Trump showed off his newly purchased red Tesla alongside Elon Musk on the South Lawn. The event coincided with Tesla’s stock rebound after a dip earlier in the week. Democrats, unsurprisingly, seized the opportunity to criticize, with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee calling the administration "the most corrupt in American history." For Trump, though, it was just another headline-grabbing day.

Trump driving a red Tesla on the White House lawn? That’s one way to start a week—and a visual I won’t soon forget. The Greenland purchase idea, though... it’s like he’s auditioning for a reality show about global Monopoly. Bold, but utterly baffling.
