Israel’s advanced defense systems, including Magen Or and THAAD, intercepted 95% of Iran’s ballistic missiles, preventing widespread destruction amid ongoing attacks.
Israel’s cutting-edge defense systems have proven their mettle, thwarting a devastating barrage of Iranian ballistic missiles and drones, sparing the nation from catastrophic destruction, experts say. Dr. Yehoshua Kalisky of the Institute for National Security Studies praised the “outstanding performance” of Israel’s multilayered defenses, which intercepted roughly 95% of the missiles launched by Iran as of Saturday.
Iran’s arsenal, known for its size, speed, and maneuverability, poses a formidable threat. Yet, only about 20 of the 380 ballistic missiles fired by Tuesday breached Israel’s defenses, with an additional five from a later wave of 20 getting through, causing no fatalities, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). Over 100 Iranian UAVs were also neutralized, showcasing the robustness of Israel’s aerial shield.
The Magen Or, a laser-based system, has emerged as a game-changer, zapping Iranian drones with precision. Meanwhile, the U.S.-deployed THAAD system, operational in Israel since October 2024, tracks targets up to 3,000 km away, intercepting short- and medium-range missiles at high altitudes. Familiar systems like Iron Dome, David’s Sling, and Arrow 2 and 3 continue to guard against rockets and missiles, while the naval C-Dome protects maritime assets.
Behnam Ben Taleblu, a senior fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, noted that Iran’s attacks, part of a pattern since 2024, aim to wear down Israel’s resolve by targeting civilian areas. Despite at least eight waves of assaults, these barrages are shrinking, with Israel striking back, destroying a third of Iran’s missile launchers by Monday. Taleblu warns, however, that Iran’s sheer missile volume remains a lethal threat, underscoring why its regional dominance in ballistic missiles—and potential nuclear ambitions—must be curbed.
Tragically, the conflict has claimed 24 Israeli lives and injured over 500, with strikes disrupting daily life and even damaging a U.S. Embassy branch in Tel Aviv. Yet, Israel’s defensive prowess continues to blunt Iran’s aggression, proving that technology and resolve can hold firm against overwhelming odds.

Iran’s throwing missiles like a kid tossing darts at a board, but Israel’s defenses are catching them like a pro goalie. Jokes aside, Tehran’s escalation is no game—targeting civilians shows desperation, not strength. And that U.S. Embassy hit? Talk about poking the bear while dodging Israel’s laser show!
