Vice President JD Vance defends deportation of alleged MS-13 member Kilmar Abrego Garcia, slamming Democrats and media for focusing on criminals over victims amid ongoing immigration debate.
JD Vance didn't hold back in criticizing Democrats and the media for what he described as a "disgraceful set of priorities" following the deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an alleged MS-13 gang member. Vance, the Vice President, accused his opponents of being more outraged over the deportation of violent criminals than over their victims.
In a Thursday interview on "Fox & Friends," Vance stated, "We do not ask permission from far-left Democrats before we deport illegal immigrants. We do the American people's business." He went on to question the moral compass of his critics: "What is it about congressional Democrats that get more angry at deporting violent gang members than they do at the victims of those violent gang members? I don't even understand where they're coming from." Harsh words, but the message was clear: Vance is not pulling any punches.
Abrego Garcia's case, a lightning rod for controversy, involves his deportation to a megaprison in El Salvador despite reportedly having protected status. Vance insisted that Abrego Garcia was indeed a member of the notorious MS-13 gang, citing evidence from a 2019 immigration judge’s ruling. "This is not exactly ‘Father of the Year’ here," Vance remarked, emphasizing the individual's traffic violations and missed court dates.
While some media outlets questioned the administration's reasoning for deporting Abrego Garcia, none disputed his illegal status. Vance pointed out the irony, saying, "Not even the crazy left-wing media criticized the idea that we could deport this person. They just took issue with the reasoning for why we deported this person." If there's one thing Vance seems to find baffling, it's this selective outrage.
Reports revealed that Abrego Garcia fled gang threats in El Salvador in 2011 as a teenager. In 2019, he was granted "withholding of removal," a protected status acknowledging the danger he could face if deported. However, the Trump administration still proceeded with his removal, citing an "administrative error" in sending him to El Salvador's CECOT men’s prison.
Democrats expressed outrage over the deportation, which sparked Vance's sharp criticism. He accused the party of showing greater empathy for illegal immigrants than for victims of violent crimes, such as Georgia nursing student Laken Riley and Texas native Jocelyn Nungaray, who both lost their lives to gang violence.
The Vice President also touched on unrelated topics like tariffs and rumors surrounding Elon Musk’s alleged departure from DOGE, dismissing the latter as "total fake news." It's safe to say Vance is juggling a lot right now.
With tensions running high over immigration policy and gang violence, Vance's remarks reflect the administration's firm stance on deporting individuals who pose a threat to public safety. Whether you agree with him or not, one thing is clear: Vance isn’t afraid to speak his mind.

JD Vance’s incredulity over misplaced outrage really strikes a nerve. It's hard to fathom how violent criminals can become a cause célèbre while their victims barely get a mention. And let’s not overlook his colorful commentary—‘not exactly Father of the Year’ might end up being the soundbite of the week.
