Jeopardy! faces backlash over a confusing Final Jeopardy clue about James Bond films, leaving fans frustrated with its wording.

"Jeopardy!" has landed in hot water with fans over a Final Jeopardy clue that many found more confusing than a spy thriller plot. The episode, aired on July 7, featured a "Movie Music" category prompt that read: "The last 2 best song Oscar winners whose titles were the same name as the movie they were in had this man in the leading role."

The correct answer was Daniel Craig, referencing the James Bond films "Skyfall" (2012) with Adele's title track and "No Time to Die" (2021) performed by Billie Eilish. While two contestants, including the returning champion Scott, nailed the answer, others weren’t so lucky. Contestant Ashley scribbled down Timothee Chalamet, which host Ken Jennings had to politely decline.

But it wasn’t just Ashley who was stumped—viewers at home took to social media to vent their frustration. Many called the clue "convoluted" and poorly worded, with one fan noting on the show’s YouTube page, "I assumed they were asking about the last 2 Best Song winners: 2024 and 2025. The strength of the comma!" Another pondered if simply answering "James Bond" instead of Craig would’ve counted, given the ambiguity around whether the clue sought the actor or character.

Jennings, no stranger to the pressures of the "Jeopardy!" stage, has previously shared his deep empathy for contestants. Having once been in their shoes, racking up over $2.5 million across 74 games, he knows the spotlight can burn. He’s often focused on easing the tension for players facing this high-stakes trivia crucible.

Still, for a show built on precision, this clue missed the mark for many. It’s a reminder that even 007 can’t escape a mission gone awry when the wording gets tricky.

Well, folks, looks like Jeopardy! tried to play 007 with this clue and ended up more shaken than stirred. I mean, a riddle about Bond songs that’s tougher than cracking a villain’s safe? Even Daniel Craig might’ve needed Q to decode this one! Let’s hope next time they keep the mission briefing clear—or at least throw in a martini for the confused.
