Brief
NBA star Jimmy Butler faces a lawsuit over unpaid rent and property damage from his Miami rental, following his trade from the Heat to the Golden State Warriors.
Jimmy Butler might be making moves on the court, but off the court, he's facing some serious allegations about his time in Miami.
The NBA star, who was traded from the Miami Heat to the Golden State Warriors, is now being sued by Five Star Marketing and Promotions Inc. for allegedly failing to pay $260,000 in rent and leaving behind damages totaling nearly $130,000. Talk about leaving a mark... literally.
Butler had leased a luxurious Miami home during his six-season stint with the Heat, a period that included two NBA Finals appearances. However, the lawsuit claims that Butler skipped out on paying rent for the final two months of his lease, changed the locks without providing the new keys to the property owner, and even barred maintenance workers from entering the premises.
The alleged damages include mold in the ceilings and floors, reportedly caused by neglecting to maintain the air conditioning unit. For a home that's valued at a cool $10 million, neglecting the AC seems like a rookie move.
The Golden State Warriors, Butler's new team, have certainly benefited from his presence on the court, boasting a 7-1 record when he’s in the lineup. However, Butler's transition hasn't been entirely smooth, with a recent shooting slump dampening his otherwise solid scoring average of 20 points per game in his first six outings.
As of now, Butler has not publicly commented on the lawsuit. Whether he'll settle the matter off-court or face further legal action remains to be seen. Here's hoping his game on the hardwood stays sharper than his rental history.

Jimmy Butler may have mastered the art of the fast break, but it seems like he fumbled the basics of being a tenant. Mold damage in a $10 million home? That’s a headline you don’t expect from someone who’s used to playing in the big leagues. Maybe it’s time for Butler to hire a property manager—or at least keep the AC in check!
