WWE legend John Cena has always been known for his thick skin, but apparently, his hairline didn't have the same resilience. As Cena takes his farewell lap around the WWE this year, he admitted that it wasn’t boos or cheers that got under his skin, but the endless jabs about his thinning hair.
On a recent episode of "The Pat McAfee Show," Cena got candid about the reason behind his new look. He revealed that he underwent a hair transplant in November after seeing sign after sign pointing out his bald spot at wrestling events. Even Cena, the self-professed "hustle, loyalty and respect" guy, couldn't shrug off the constant reminders from the crowd—and honestly, who could?
Social media blew up after Cena’s Royal Rumble appearance, with eagle-eyed fans spotting the evidence right on the back of his head. Cena explained, "When you get [a transplant], your hair falls out because the new ones have to grow. So the old one falls out. So in January and February, I had it in November, that’s when I became a half-a-skinhead up here." He didn’t hold back on the sarcasm either, thanking the fans for being so "aware of his needs and emotions" while, in his words, they "ripped [him] to shreds for a genetic problem."
It turns out, the constant chanting and signs about his hair really got to him. Cena admitted, "You chant and you make me feel small and you embarrass me. Y'all don't know what that's like. That is straight-up bullying. That's just not cool. So, thank you for bullying me into getting surgical hair replacement. That's how far y'all push me. I appreciate that."
In true Cena fashion, he brushed it off with some self-deprecating humor, saying he had a problem and simply "tried to fix it." No drama, just a little surgery, a lot of honesty, and a lot more hair.
Cena appeared on the ESPN show shortly after beating Cody Rhodes to claim his astonishing 17th WWE world title. Bald spot or not, he’s still finding ways to come out on top.

Only in pro wrestling can a guy go toe-to-toe with monsters in the ring, but it’s a receding hairline that finally takes him down. Maybe Cena should've started holding up signs at the crowd: 'You Can't See My Hair!'
