Former Cowboys defensive back Jourdan Lewis voices frustrations after joining the Jaguars, highlighting personal achievements and sparking drama amid Dallas Cowboys' turbulent offseason and player departures.

The Dallas Cowboys are clearly having a breakup season, and not the pretty kind. Longtime defensive back Jourdan Lewis, who spent eight seasons with the team, is the latest to let his frustrations spill into the public eye after his departure to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Lewis recently signed a three-year deal with the Jaguars, and while he’s gearing up for new opportunities, his remarks about his time with the Cowboys have raised eyebrows. A video surfaced showing Jaguars defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile discussing how Lewis would fit into their defensive scheme, calling him "the straw that stirred the drink" for Dallas' defense. Not one to let that go unnoticed, Lewis hopped onto X (formerly Twitter) to respond, saying, "Watch tape. It’s out there." Subtle, yet spicy.

This isn’t just a case of a player leaving; Lewis took it a step further by highlighting his individual achievements during his Cowboys tenure. He pointed out that he earned the "highest-rated slot coverage grade" in the NFL, while hinting at some tactical frustrations with how he was deployed in games. He elaborated, "Highest rated slot coverage grade and all we did was match and man." Seems like someone felt underutilized—or underappreciated.

If that wasn’t enough, Lewis also clapped back at a follower commenting that Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Cooper DeJean is better than him. He directed the troll to watch game footage from last season when the Cowboys played the Carolina Panthers and the Eagles faced the same team. A little "film study homework" for the critics, perhaps?

Lewis wasn’t the only player to exit Dallas with a few choice words. Former Cowboys pass rusher DeMarcus Lawrence, who signed with the Seattle Seahawks, stirred up drama by suggesting the franchise isn’t capable of winning a Super Bowl anytime soon. Ouch. "I know for sure I'm not going to win a Super Bowl [in Dallas]," Lawrence said, while also calling the city his forever home.

Micah Parsons, still with the team, didn’t take kindly to Lawrence’s comments, firing back on X, "This what rejection and envy look like! This some clown s---!" The virtual spat has added yet another layer of drama to the Cowboys' offseason transitions.

Lewis, drafted in the third round out of Michigan in 2017, recorded 330 tackles, nine interceptions, and nine fumble recoveries during his time with the Cowboys. While his departure may signal the end of an era, his words suggest there’s plenty left unsaid about what went down behind the scenes.

The Cowboys seem to be in the middle of a team identity crisis. With players leaving and airing out grievances, it’s clear that Dallas isn’t just losing talent—they’re losing goodwill.

Editor's Comments

Jourdan Lewis might have left Dallas, but he's throwing enough shade to cover the entire state of Texas. His comments about defensive strategy and his slot coverage grades suggest he felt undervalued—and honestly, who wouldn’t want their talents recognized? As for DeMarcus Lawrence’s Super Bowl jab, it’s giving bitter ex vibes, but hey, he may not be wrong. The Cowboys seem to be specializing in drama rather than trophies these days.
