Kelly Clarkson shares her enduring Dallas Cowboys fandom, pokes fun at Jerry Jones, and discusses the team's offseason changes and hopes for a comeback in the 2025 NFL season.

Kelly Clarkson, the Texas-born pop sensation, has never been shy about her affection for the Dallas Cowboys. From hosting the NFL Honors in a Cowboys jersey to performing during their Thanksgiving game halftime show back in 2006, Clarkson’s fandom runs deep. But as all Cowboys fans know, loving America’s Team can sometimes feel like riding a rollercoaster of hope and heartbreak.

During a recent appearance on Kylie Kelce’s podcast "Not Gonna Lie," Clarkson delivered a sly jab at Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, referencing his repeated declarations that “now is the time” for the team to shine. "I just read something with my sister, and I guess Jerry Jones had said, ‘Well, now is the time,’" Clarkson said. "And I was like, ‘Oh, OK. It was different from the last ‘now’s the time.’ Very different from last year’s time, which was also the time." It’s safe to say she’s mastered the art of saying what every Cowboys fan has thought at least once.

Despite her pointed humor, Clarkson remains hopeful for the franchise’s future, citing their dominance during the 1990s as evidence of their potential. "Our team is probably one of the most hated," she admitted. "Because I also think, too, we’re always so hopeful. I don’t think there’s been more dreamers since the ‘90s. Every year is our year." Ah, the eternal optimism of Cowboys fans—a phenomenon as consistent as the Texas heat.

While Clarkson’s love for the Cowboys is unwavering, she revealed that her passion for football took off when she began playing fantasy football. In Texas, it seems there’s little choice but to be a Cowboys fan, and Clarkson has embraced that wholeheartedly.

Looking ahead to the 2025 season, Dallas has made some significant changes, including bringing in Brian Schottenheimer as their new head coach. The offseason also saw the team bolster its defense with signings like linebacker Kenneth Murray, cornerback Kaiir Elam, and defensive lineman Solomon Thomas. However, they lost key players like cornerback Jourdan Lewis and edge rushers Demarcus Lawrence and Chauncey Golston, which could pose challenges.

Quarterback Dak Prescott is set to return after his season-ending injury derailed the Cowboys’ 2024 campaign, which ended with a disappointing 7-10 record. Despite making the playoffs three out of the last four seasons, the Cowboys haven’t reached the conference championship since their Super Bowl-winning season in 1995. Talk about a drought.

Kelly Clarkson’s witty critique of Jerry Jones is the kind of commentary that makes pop stars feel surprisingly relatable. Her quip about "now is the time" perfectly captures the cyclical optimism of Cowboys fans—an annual ritual that’s as predictable as pumpkin spice lattes in fall. If hope could win championships, the Cowboys would have a dynasty by now!
