Netflix's 'Quarterback' returns in July 2025 with Kirk Cousins, Joe Burrow, and Jared Goff, offering exclusive insights into their 2024-25 NFL seasons, triumphs, and challenges.
Netflix's hit documentary series "Quarterback" is coming back for a second season, and the lineup of NFL stars promises plenty of drama, talent, and maybe a few surprises. Announced on Wednesday, the streaming giant revealed that Kirk Cousins, Joe Burrow, and Jared Goff will headline the upcoming season, set to debut in July 2025.
The inaugural season, released in 2023, offered an intimate look at three quarterbacks, including Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes, Minnesota Vikings' Kirk Cousins during his injury-shortened season, and Marcus Mariota's unpredictable stint with the Atlanta Falcons. Now, Cousins is returning for round two, joined by Cincinnati Bengals standout Joe Burrow and Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff, whose performances during the 2024-25 NFL season will be the documentary's focus.
Netflix teased the new season with a brief announcement on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "Coming to Netflix this July." While fans eagerly anticipate diving deeper into the lives of these athletes, it's clear that the series intends to keep its blend of on-field action and personal storytelling intact.
Expanding its NFL portfolio, Netflix previously released "Receiver," a documentary series focusing on wide receivers and tight ends. That show followed stars like Davante Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders, Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings, and Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions, while tight end George Kittle added his unique perspective from the San Francisco 49ers.
Season one of "Quarterback" featured eight episodes, but Netflix has yet to confirm the episode count for the second season. Production for the series remains in the hands of Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions, Patrick Mahomes' 2PM Productions, and NFL Films—an all-star collaboration behind the scenes.
As for the featured quarterbacks, their 2024-25 performances were nothing short of noteworthy. Joe Burrow achieved a career-high 4,918 passing yards and 43 touchdowns, earning the AP Comeback Player of the Year award. However, his Cincinnati Bengals finished the season with a 9-8 record, missing the playoffs. Jared Goff, on the other hand, dazzled with 4,629 passing yards, nearly breaking his personal record. His Detroit Lions entered the playoffs as the NFC's top seed but suffered a shocking divisional-round loss to the Washington Commanders. Meanwhile, Kirk Cousins navigated a turbulent season, throwing a career-high 16 interceptions before being benched in favor of rookie quarterback Michael Penix.
With a mix of comeback stories, playoff heartbreaks, and behind-the-scenes access, Netflix’s "Quarterback" season two is shaping up to be another must-watch for football enthusiasts. Whether you're here for the stats or the emotional rollercoaster, this docuseries delivers both.

Netflix seems to have cracked the code for blending sports and drama into binge-worthy content. Kirk Cousins returning is interesting—he’s a bit of an enigma, isn’t he? One minute, he’s a steady veteran; the next, he’s throwing interceptions like he’s practicing darts. And Joe Burrow’s numbers are unreal, but the Bengals missing the playoffs? Oh, the irony of football! This lineup is strong—I’m betting Goff might surprise us the most this season.
