Louisiana AG expects more arrests in New Orleans jailbreak probe as five of 10 escaped inmates remain at large.
Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill is tightening the screws on the investigation into the daring escape of 10 inmates from the Orleans County Correctional Facility last Friday. Speaking on national television, Murrill expressed confidence that more arrests are imminent, particularly targeting insiders who may have aided the breakout. "This isn’t just a jailbreak; it’s a puzzle we’re piecing together methodically," she stated, hinting at deeper complicity within the facility.
One jail employee, Sterling Williams, 33, has already been nabbed, charged with 10 counts of principal to simple escape and malfeasance in office. His bond? A hefty $1.1 million. Authorities allege Williams was coerced by an inmate, Antoine Massey, a serial escape artist with a rap sheet screaming "flight risk." Massey reportedly threatened violence to get Williams to shut off a water valve, facilitating the escape. "This guy’s history reads like a Houdini biography," quipped a local monitoring expert.
Five of the 10 escapees have been recaptured, all within New Orleans, including 19-year-old Corey Boyd, nabbed Tuesday night. Boyd, awaiting trial for second-degree murder and other charges, was spotted on French Quarter surveillance just hours after the breakout. The remaining five? Murrill’s gut says they’re still local, leaning on familiar networks. "These guys aren’t exactly jet-setters with offshore accounts," she noted, citing their deep New Orleans roots, some dating back to Hurricane Katrina’s aftermath.
With a substantial reward on the table and law enforcement hot on credible leads, Murrill remains optimistic. "We’re closing the net. They’re running out of places to hide." The investigation continues to unravel how such a brazen escape unfolded, with the public watching closely.

This New Orleans jailbreak is less Shawshank Redemption and more like a bad sitcom rerun—same old escape artist, Antoine Massey, pulling a Houdini again! If jails had frequent flyer miles, he’d be sipping cocktails in first class. Meanwhile, the AG’s playing whack-a-mole with insiders. Wonder if the next arrestee will claim they were 'threatened' by a rogue vending machine.
