Meghan Markle is giving us yet another peek into her home life, and this time, she’s got some big-name company. Over the weekend, the Duchess of Sussex shared a sweet video of her playing the classic board game Candy Land with none other than tennis legend Serena Williams and her three-year-old daughter, Princess Lilibet. Talk about a royal playdate!
Markle posted the video on her social media, captioning it, "When the aunties come to celebrate … and to play! Love you @serenawilliams," with the iconic "Lovely Day" by Bill Withers providing the perfect soundtrack. She also teased her upcoming Netflix show, "With Love, Meghan," which premieres March 4, writing, "3 days until the party begins. All are invited @netflix." If only we could RSVP to that invite, huh?
The highly anticipated show had its release date pushed back from January to March due to the devastating wildfires that ravaged Southern California. Markle, who called the show a heartfelt tribute to her home state, thanked Netflix for their support in delaying the project. "I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch, as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California," she said in a statement.
Experts have praised Markle’s decision to postpone the launch, calling it a rare moment of thoughtfulness. Royal photographer Helena Chard remarked, "It would have been wrong to launch her new show while the wildfires continue to rage through L.A. I have to say it’s a first, her giving some thought to the release date of her series." Ouch, but also, fair point.
Branding expert Doug Eldridge chimed in, noting that the tragedy offered Markle a chance to connect with the public on a deeper level. "Amid the tragedy, Markle has a real shot at achieving the one thing that's always eluded her: relatability. She doesn’t need to play a character or rehearse a script; she just needs to be real." Now, whether or not she pulls that off remains to be seen, but hey, everyone loves an underdog story.
With "With Love, Meghan" just days away, all eyes are on Markle to see if this could finally be her moment to shine as the relatable, kind-hearted figure she’s aiming to be. One thing’s for sure, though: teaming up with Serena Williams and Candy Land is a pretty solid start.

Okay, so Meghan Markle postponing her show for the wildfires is a win in the PR playbook, but let’s not ignore the shade experts threw at her for her past "tone-deaf" timing. Still, the Candy Land moment with Serena Williams was pure gold—who doesn’t love a celebrity game night? Also, is it just me, or does this Netflix project feel like her Hail Mary for public relatability? Time will tell if it lands, but the stakes are high!
