Meghan Markle addresses criticism over her Netflix series 'With Love, Meghan,' defending her relatability and sharing personal stories amidst ongoing public debate and media scrutiny.

Meghan Markle has found herself in the spotlight yet again, this time defending her relatability after critics took aim at her latest project, "With Love, Meghan." The Netflix series, which premiered on March 4, has drawn mixed reviews, with some viewers calling Markle "unrelatable"—highlighting her seemingly picture-perfect kitchen setup and her lineup of luxurious Le Creuset pots.

The 43-year-old Duchess of Sussex addressed the criticism in an interview with The New York Times, stating, "I need to work, and I love to work." Markle, who many remember from her seven seasons on the TV series "Suits," pointed out that she’s been employed since the age of 13. She described her new endeavor as a way to merge her professional life with her home life, which includes raising her two children with Prince Harry.

Despite the pushback, Markle has proven she still knows how to command attention. Her lifestyle brand, "As Ever," recently sold out in under an hour, even with its premium price tags. Not too shabby for someone deemed "unrelatable."

Yet, the criticism seemed to hit a nerve. "Don’t they know my life hasn’t always been like this?" Markle reportedly asked. Drawing on her earlier years, she shared a memory of cooking Rachael Ray-inspired grilled cheese sandwiches in her tiny college apartment, paired with a budget-friendly bottle of wine. Fancy, indeed—at least by college standards.

Markle also emphasized that she doesn’t pretend to be a culinary expert. "There are professionals who do that better than I ever will," she admitted. And when it comes to feeding her kids, she’s not above the convenience of frozen chicken nuggets, veggie burgers, and Tater Tots. Honestly, who hasn’t been there?

Markle, who married Prince Harry in 2018, stepped back from royal duties with him in 2020. By September of that year, the couple struck a lucrative deal with Netflix to produce a variety of programming for the platform. Hosting and cooking have always been interests of hers, she said, a passion that traces back to her time at Northwestern University.

While the debate over Markle’s relatability continues to swirl, one thing is clear—whether you love her or criticize her, she knows how to keep the world talking.

Ah, the irony of being criticized for being 'unrelatable' while selling out a brand in under an hour. It’s like complaining about a five-star meal while still licking the plate clean. But seriously, it’s worth noting how Markle channels her past to counter the criticisms—college Rachael Ray recipes and all. That said, maybe skip the Le Creuset pots next time if relatability is the goal.
