Brief

Michelle Obama’s new podcast 'IMO', co-hosted with her brother Craig Robinson, quickly climbs Spotify and Apple charts, featuring celebrity guests and engaging, personal conversations.

Michelle Obama is back in the spotlight, but this time, she's got a microphone in hand. The former First Lady's new podcast, "IMO," has made its way to the 34th spot on Spotify's top podcast chart, just weeks after its debut. Obama launched the podcast alongside her brother, Craig Robinson, in early March, and it’s already generating buzz.

On Apple Podcasts, "IMO" scores even higher, ranking 21st on their chart. While it hasn’t taken over the top spots held by heavyweights like "The Joe Rogan Experience," "The Mel Robbins Podcast," or Amy Poehler's "Good Hang," it’s certainly holding its own.

The duo introduced their podcast venture on March 12 with two episodes. The first episode, a family affair featuring Robinson, has gathered over 335,000 views, while the second episode—featuring guest Issa Rae—has racked up 194,000 views as of Monday morning. Not too shabby for a newbie podcast!

Michelle and Craig also welcomed filmmakers Seth and Lauren Rogen for their March 19 episode, which has garnered over 250,000 views on YouTube. Other notable guests have included Keke Palmer, Dr. Laurie Santos, and Jay Shetty, showcasing a diverse lineup of talent and perspectives.

In the Education category on Spotify, "IMO" ranks fourth—a testament to its engaging yet insightful content. Michelle Obama has always been about empowering conversations, and this podcast seems to be no exception.

Listeners got an amusing peek into Obama's personal life during the first episode when she revealed that Barack Obama had to "adjust" his understanding of punctuality after they got married. "When it’s time to leave—it's 3:00—he's getting up and going to the bathroom," she joked. "I was like, dude, 3:00 departure means you've done all that, you know?" Relatable, right?

She also shared how her brother had played a pivotal role in convincing her to support Barack’s run for the presidency. Initially hesitant, she admitted to thinking, "We've done enough crazy stuff." Turns out, family really does have a way of making you see things differently.

Whether it’s funny anecdotes or deep conversations, "IMO" seems to package the many layers of Michelle Obama into a format that’s easy to digest—and clearly, people are listening.

Michelle Obama casually dropping husband humor about Barack running late is the kind of relatable content I didn’t know I needed. Also, Craig Robinson deserves major props for convincing her to back Barack’s run—talk about sibling power!
