House Speaker Mike Johnson hails Trump’s megabill as economic 'jet fuel,' promising growth, jobs, and tax cuts while teasing two more bills within a year.
House Speaker Mike Johnson is betting big on President Donald Trump’s newly signed megabill, calling it "jet fuel" for the U.S. economy. In a spirited discussion on Sunday, Johnson celebrated the legislation as a cornerstone of a bold, three-step plan to supercharge growth and deliver on the America First agenda. The bill, signed with flair by Trump on Friday, extends the 2017 tax cuts and introduces new breaks on tips, overtime pay, and senior incomes, which Johnson claims will put more money in the pockets of everyday Americans.
Promising a "big, beautiful" economic boost, Johnson teased two more bills to come within the next year—one by fall, another by spring. He dismissed Democratic critics like Rep. Ro Khanna and DNC Chair Ken Martin, who argue the bill favors the wealthy, as recycling "old, tired talking points." Johnson insists the megabill delivers for the working class, citing a projected 3% economic growth, 4 million new jobs, and an average household gain of $13,000, per the Council of Joint Economic Advisers.
Addressing Rep. Glenn Ivey’s claim that tax cuts for the rich are permanent while those for workers are temporary, Johnson quipped, "I don’t think he read the bill—it’s 940 pages, so I’ll give him some grace." He emphasized that middle-income earners, especially those making $30,000 to $80,000, will see a 15% lower federal tax rate, calling it the most consequential tax legislation in U.S. history. Beyond taxes, the bill aims to secure the border, restore American energy dominance, and bolster the military to counter global competitors like China.
With Republicans facing Democratic predictions of losing their majority in 2026, Johnson remains unfazed. "The economy will be roaring, and people will feel it," he predicted, banking on an economic high to carry Republicans through the midterms. If the megabill delivers as promised, it could indeed be a game-changer—or, as Johnson might say, a rocket launch for prosperity.

Mike Johnson’s calling this bill 'jet fuel,' but I’m wondering if it’s more like rocket fuel—or just hot air. With 940 pages, it’s thicker than a New Orleans gumbo, and about as clear. If it delivers 4 million jobs, great! But if it flops, the only thing soaring will be Democratic hopes for 2026. Here’s a joke: Why did the megabill go to Congress? To get a 'tax-ic' makeover!
