Morgan Wallen discusses the challenges of fame, his escape through hunting, and recent controversies including his abrupt SNL exit and past Nashville bar incident on Theo Von's podcast.
Morgan Wallen is no stranger to the spotlight, whether he's dropping chart-topping hits or stirring up controversy. During a recent episode of Theo Von's podcast "Last Weekend," the country singer got candid about the complexities of fame, just days after abruptly walking off the "Saturday Night Live" stage.
"It’s still weird, and there’s parts of [fame] that I don’t like," Wallen admitted in the podcast episode, recorded prior to his "SNL" appearance. "It’s not ideal to go everywhere, and even if you don’t get bothered, you’re on edge the whole time because you think you might." Fame may come with perks, but it’s clear Wallen isn’t entirely sold on the lifestyle.
One way he’s found solace? Hunting. Wallen shared that being outdoors with his buddies in the middle of nowhere allows him to decompress and escape the constant attention. "I can not stress out. You just find ways to supplement it, I think," he explained.
When asked by Von if he could still frequent bars unnoticed, Wallen revealed that he hasn’t stepped into one since his infamous Nashville incident last year, where he pleaded guilty to tossing a chair off the sixth floor of a bar. "I mean, if you’re using a bar as a specific example, that’s definitely the best thing for me," he said. "I ain’t been in a bar since the last time I was in a bar that everybody knows about." Well, at least he’s learned to steer clear of situations that might make headlines!
The singer made waves recently during his "SNL" appearance, promoting his upcoming album, "I'm the Problem." Things got awkward when Wallen walked off the stage before the closing credits, leaving viewers scratching their heads. An insider later clarified that Wallen’s exit was nothing more than muscle memory from rehearsals and camera blocking. Seems like fame isn’t the only thing keeping Wallen on edge.
After leaving Manhattan's iconic 30 Rockefeller Plaza, Wallen shared his excitement about heading back home, writing to fans on Instagram, "Get me to God's country." For a guy navigating fame's twists and turns, it sounds like nothing beats the comfort of familiar surroundings.
Love him or hate him, Wallen’s journey through fame remains as unpredictable as his music career.
