NASCAR's Corey Heim calls Layne Riggs’ final-lap move 'scum racing' after spinning out, as Chandler Smith claims victory at North Wilkesboro.

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at North Wilkesboro Speedway screeched to a dramatic close on Saturday, with tempers flaring as Corey Heim spun out on the final lap, courtesy of a bold move by Layne Riggs. The clash handed the victory to Chandler Smith, while Heim was left fuming, branding Riggs’ tactics as "scum racing."

In a heart-pounding overtime, Heim held the lead with Riggs glued to his bumper. As they hit the white flag, Heim took the high line, Riggs dove low, and the two battled door-to-door down the backstretch. But in Turn 2, contact sent Heim spinning, dropping him to 17th, while Riggs crossed the line in second.

Post-race, Heim didn’t mince words. "Calm down or else I’m going to take care of you," he warned Riggs, later venting his frustration: "He wrecked me. Just disappointed." Heim pointed out Riggs’ aggressive history, noting a similar move the previous week. Yet, he acknowledged Smith’s strong performance, admitting the victor "deserved to win."

Riggs, unapologetic, stood by his "strong move." Rooted in short-track racing’s last-lap battles, he argued, "That’s what this kind of racing is made for." While he missed the win, Riggs embraced his reputation for going all-in, saying, "I’m not going to regret that at all."

Despite the chaos, Heim maintains a commanding lead in the driver standings with 450 points, 47 ahead of Smith, while Riggs climbs to eighth. The incident underscores the fine line between fierce competition and reckless ambition in NASCAR’s high-stakes arena.

Looks like Riggs took 'bumper-to-bumper' a bit too literally! Heim’s spinning out faster than a politician dodging a tough question. Wonder if North Wilkesboro’s turns come with a ‘no shoving’ sign next time?
