Denny Hamlin dominates the NASCAR Cup Series Cook Out 400 at Martinsville Speedway, while tensions flare between Ty Gibbs and Tyler Reddick after an on-track incident.
Tempers flared at the Martinsville Speedway during Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Cook Out 400, as Ty Gibbs made it crystal clear he wasn’t exactly sending Tyler Reddick a Christmas card anytime soon. The drama unfolded on Lap 298 when Gibbs got a bit too wide on a corner, and Reddick attempted to squeeze past. The result? Gibbs got spun out after Reddick made contact while trying to maneuver beneath him.
But Gibbs wasn’t about to let that slide quietly. Over the radio, the driver of the No. 54 car exploded with frustration, saying, "Just free this f---ing up please. Keep me away from that little f---er after this race too." Talk about keeping it raw and unfiltered.
Post-race, the two drivers had what appeared to be a spirited conversation, though fortunately, cooler heads eventually prevailed. Gibbs finished 13th, just one spot ahead of Reddick, who came in 14th. Not exactly the ending either of them hoped for, but hey, at least no fists flew.
Meanwhile, veteran driver Denny Hamlin was in a league of his own. Starting in fifth, Hamlin dominated the race, leading 274 of the 400 laps and crossing the finish line 4.6 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Christopher Bell. This marked Hamlin’s first win of the 2025 season and his first victory at Martinsville in a decade. Clearly relishing the moment, Hamlin emerged from his car with a flag that read "11 against the world." Subtle flex? Absolutely.
Reflecting on his performance, Hamlin said, "We had the feeling [in the early 2010s] we were just better than anyone else. It was easy. I didn't have to put in all the work that I do now. It was just aggravating to be the next-best at this track for the last five years, just never having it. Today we had ‘it.’"
The rest of the top five included Bubba Wallace, Chase Elliott, and Kyle Larson, showcasing a strong mix of talent on the track. Ross Chastain, Ryan Preece, Joey Logano, Chase Briscoe, and Todd Gilliland rounded out the top 10.
As for the Gibbs-Reddick beef? Let’s just say NASCAR fans might want to keep an eye on how that storyline plays out in the coming weeks. Rivalries are the spice of motorsports, after all.

Ty Gibbs really didn’t hold back, did he? His radio outburst might’ve been a bit *spicy* for daytime TV, but it perfectly captured the raw emotion of the moment. While Hamlin’s win was a masterclass in dominance, the dust-up between Gibbs and Reddick will likely steal more headlines. Drama, speed, and a touch of pettiness—classic NASCAR.
